NEEM DAT TERUG!!!

I'm getting the album on vinyl within 2 hours!! along with camel - camel, yes - close to the edge and jethro tull's aqualung.... Moonmadness was the only album this whole trade was accually about! Moonmadness is in my top 5 best albums ever! I just LOVE every second of it! (ah ok.. Aristilus isn't that interesting ).. Camel is in my eyes the best band of the 70ies.. Moonmadness their keyalbum.. maybe even a 10/10..

I've just been pondering over the desert island disc thread. My first reaction was The Snow Goose, but its a close call with Moonmadness.

I learned the keys parts for Song Within A Song for a band audition many years ago. They were too precious to play covers though!

Camel, in general, is quite an underrated band ... I think it's their understated style myself ... I have the first six Camel albums and they are full of wonderful songs ... some widely acknowledged like Lunar Sea and Supertwister ... some less so like Mystic Queen and (gulp) Down On The Farm ... I should confess though that despite containing some great music, The Snow Goose is the album I enjoy the least ... I rate em ...

Mirage (by a country mile), Moonmadness, Rain Dances, Camel, Breathless and The Snow Goose

Actually, "Song Within a Song" is the piece of music that brought me to
Camel in the first place. I loved it the first time I ever heard it.
Moonmadness remains one of my all time favorite prog albums.

who cares about musicianship, the songwriting on The Snow Goose is
damn near flawless

I personally really enjoy moonmadnes and raindances, probably more
than Mirage,

I completly agree, thought the snow goose doesnt show off what Latimer
can really do, the songwriting itself is top notch!

After Mirage, their best album, both 4-5 stars. Rain dances appealed a little less to me, although it contains what I consider their best song (Tell me).

One of Camel's best albums. "Song within a Song" is such an amazing track too.

Must say that I can't pick my favourite between Camel's first 4 albums.
Actually I think they all are underrated, Moonmadness being nothing
short of fantastic. They would certainly deserve a place up there with
the big(gest) ones.

MOONMADNESS.
It's my favourite Camel album.
When it came out in 1976 I rated it higher than any Genesis album and I was a Genesis fanatic. The synth,Mellotron and guitar playing on that album is stunning. It was not off of my turntable for months.
As a 16 year old (in 1976)many an evening was spent in my bedroom refining my tennis racket guitar solos to this album. I didn't get out much then.Nothings changed.

Do 'The Stanley' otherwise I'll thrash you with some rhubarb.

Azrael is right, IMO..

Latimers guitar talents only really come to the fore on subsequent albums. Mirage is a great album, but I think Moonmadness is even better. Its a real melodioc solo fest, brilliantly produced to give Latimers guitar work the clarity his solos deserve.

As for 'Song within a song' I love that track! It took a while though. When I first heard it, I thought it sounded weak, but you soon spot its beauty. Moonmadness is my favourite camel album!

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!
