the Invisible albums are great! Also loving Pablo "El Enterrador"--though it's an 80s album and a Genesis imitator, not Yes.

Don't know much of the others--have heard snippets of Crucis, La Máquina de Hacer Pájaros, El Reloj, Sui Generis, and Bubu--and, of course, Nexus and Factor Burzaco/Carolina Restuccia. Looking forward to checking out more from the bands suggested here. Great thread!

I understand that you are paying attention to Spanish lyrics. Give a try to Alejandro Matos
I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

Absolutely this! It’s easily one of the very great albums in PA for me, too. So much so, that I’ve never been able to bring myself to listen to the newer Bubu releases, because I know I will surely only be disappointed…..

I actually heard this album a lot, but can't remember if I listened to it. I'll do it soon (enough).

Have you been braver than me, Greg? What’s your opinion?

Bubu’s “Anabelas” is hard to beat for Argentinian symphonic prog. It’s easily one of the greatest prog albums from the classic ‘70s era, and probably is only not so well known because of its country of origin. If you’ve not heard Anabelas, you really need to do so.

I’d also recommend Akenathon:

And, from the same label, Lenin:

Qüassi:

Rodrigo San Martin has many different bands, as well as a solo career, and is well worth seeking out. You may not like everything he does, but there’s bound to be something you’ll like.

Other Argentine bands I like are Áuryn, Defórmica, Gardenia, Montenegro, Vlad Tepes and Vólkova, but a lot of those won’t scratch your itch.

Lots of great bands listed here! I know of MIA but haven't actually listened yet.... Heard most the others listed though. Glad someone mentioned Pez. What a rad band!!
Music is my gospel and I preach with my picking hand. -Harry Chapin. Not prog but still cool. Haha

I make mini-docs on lesser-known classic prog acts.

Rayuela's self-titled and only album is excellent. Its sub-genre is Jazz Rock/Fusion though, on this site. Pleasant and easy to get into, whilst also being top-quality prog.

I can't remember listening to a symphonic prog band from Argentina.

MIA  - Cornonstipicum (1978) is indeed one of Argentina's most accomplished prog masterpieces of the 70s in my world.

The previous two albums are well worth the time as well but the third is on another level.

Hey guys! Lately I've been learning Spanish and of course listening to and translating music is a very helpful activity. So I spiraled down many rabbit holes but found that the 70's prog scene from Argentina does it for me best. Have you guys listened to bands like Crucis and Invisible?

I'm way into Charly Garcia and failing to find documentaries about him in English has lead to me creating my own and I'd really appreciate it if you gave my mini-doc a chance and learn the interesting story of Charly's stab at symphonic prog with his supergroup called La Máquina De Hacer Pájaros.

I think it's a really fascinating short story, with the involvement of a military uprising and a bit of drama, I also added just a snippet of my friends and I covering the song, "Bubulina."

I'd really appreciate it if you guys check it out and let me know what prog from South America you are into!
