this is a bit difficult for me to answer because when Friede and I
speak of "Nursery Cryme" we actually mean "Nursery Cryme +". we made our
own version of "Nursery Cryme" with two added tracks, "Happy the Man"
and "Twilight Alehouse". and this version of "Nursery Cryme" îs in my
opinion superior to "Foxtrot"

This is a toughie. I agree with Blacksword in that I was more familiar with the Genesis Live versions of Hogweed and Musical Box before I heard Nursery Cryme much. I also agree with the person who said they skip the first side of Foxtrot, but then it does have Supper's Ready. Not sure if I can decide between Musical Box, Hogweed and Salmacis vs Supper's Ready.

Both. I find them quite entertaining for quite different reasons.

Really? I always assumed there was a rift in opinion on these two albums?
I personally can't get into Nursery Cryme like I can Foxtrot and everything after it. It's not a bad record by any means, it just doesn't do it for me like Foxtrot + SEBTP + Lamb does. |
NC took me longer to get into. It's actually a classic album in terms of the songs; Hogweed, Musical Box, Salmarcis etc.. but I had heard what I considered to be better later versions of these songs before I'd heard NC, and that made appreciating the album, to extent that it probably deserved, harder for me. Foxtrot is also a step up musically and in terms of production. |
Definitely!
Also, Foxtrot production, especially the 2008 remaster, is so crystal clear. It doesn't sound like 1972, but does at the same time. Remarkable.

the rift is between Foxtrot and SEbtP.
Nursery Cryme, seeing 0 next to them makes me click for it.

Exactly what it sounds like; which album do you like best?
For me, it's Foxtrot all the way.
