I either like or respect most everything under the prog label. I haven't gotten all the fuss over Radiohead yet ... but I'm going to give it a rest and try it again later.

I can't get into Dream Theater, Marillion, or Pink Floyd. I'm a little unsure of Opeth too; I like the vocals, but I find the music overall to be a little repetitive and kind of dull.

I wasn't going to ask, but thanks for the information. Never listened to Tool but I checked out this song and at least for now they get my vote on this thread.

ELP - I have tried for years but just can't - worse than fingernails on chalkboard.
A couple of others that I had a hard time with that I have started to like a little more are Gentle Giant and Mars Volta.

Definitely DREAM THEATER I just cannot understand
why all the fuss with such a boring band!. Certainly they are excellent
musicians, but their compositions are so dull and lack any substance
compared to other bands in the same genre like Pain of Salvation or
Arena.

Did you like how the one person (can't remember his name) from Marillion
criticized ELP? He said they never wrote a song in their lives. Bastard.

Pink Floyd for me. I think everything else that's been mentioned. Now don't
get me wrong, I do like Pink Floyd, but I think they are hyped up way too
much. For example, I think Crimson, Yes, Genesis, Tull, or any of the other
"bigger" prog bands are much more advanced than Floyd was. That is only
my opinion, keep in mind.

Outside of just bad vocals or music with no melody I usually can find something I like about most bands. I can only take Pink Floyd in measured amounts because the sound itself is a bit repetitious but I don't dislike it.

Funny you say that, Marillion is the only (as of right now) neo-prog I like.
