Hi Geezer ... yes, I think I took a risk with Museo but I do like some heavier stuff too ... I definitely won't give up on it too quickly! It took me a while to get into things which I love now - eg BMS Darwin!

Yeah, the postman dreads coming to my house ... I have to sneak to the letterbox before anyone sees the sackful of packages ...

I recommend you to start with Museo Rosenbach and if you like it get this one next. Semiramis - Dedicato a Frazz This album is fantastic and quite original as well. This group is led by a fantastic guitar player Michele Zarrillo whose playing is fiery and played in hard rock way. A must! Campo di Marte - s/t Fantastic and underrated album. Apoteosi - s/t Fantastic and based on your tastes you would probably like this. Metamorfosi - Inferno Fantastic and for some reason overlooked by some. Il Rovescio della Medaglia - Contaminazione Fantastic and in my opinion the best interpretion of classical music. if you like classical music this is a must! Some other similar Italian groups worth checking: Alphataurus (1st), Balletto di Bronzo (Ys), Latte e Miele, J.E.T, Osanna (Palepoli), Il Volo, Pierrot Lunaire (1st), Raccomandata Ricevuta Ritorno (a little jazzy), New Trolls (especially Concerto Grosso per 1) Some other great groups but might not appeal to everyone (avant-garde, jazz fusion etc.): Area, Arti E Mestieri, Pierrot Lunaire (2nd), Picchio dal Pozzo, Pholas Dactylus I hope this post doesn't cost you too much money. My intentions are only good. BTW, are you familiar with new Italian groups?

Geezer,  the Alusa Fallax and the Museo Rosenbach are on  their way  from the USA and I'll let you know what I think when I've given them a few listens. Thanks for the recommendations

All these are really great. I second these selections!! All prog collections should have most of these albums in it!

how interesting ... it was the Locanda  delle Fate album that was my first purchase ... it was recommended one of those Listmania thingies on Amazon  .... and I liked the artwork! Next I downloaded many samples from here, read  reviews and then in no time I had built up a basic collection ... so as you can see Ive still got a long way to travel with this wonderful genre

There IS  something indefinable about this music -  maybe its because I don't know what the heck they're singing about (I prefer the singing in Italian)  and to focus on the musical qualities of the vocals and the musical feel of the words .... there's  lots of passion, intensity and great musicianship -I believe  many were classically trained.

Or maybe its just because I think Italian is  very  sexy ....

btw .... I have just listened to Le Orme's Elementi ... THEY'RE BACK!!!!!!
