the late Robert Calvert of Hawkwind who also made solo albums had a kind of weird voice; he hardly hit any note right. nevertheless he is one of my favorite vocalists. why? because his voice had character.

Please don't get me wrong--I'm not saying I think Bush's voice is weird. I'm a huge fan and love, love her voice.
I was just adding on to the OP's charge--voices that some people have said they find so weird that it has blocked their ability to enjoy that band or artist. As much as I've tried to convince them otherwise, many people I've known over the years have said exactly this about Kate Bush. Frustrating, I know.
I'd second Robert Wyatt. [Again, big fan, but I've known plenty of people who just can't get past his voice.]

I actually rather like Lee's vocals in some songs and don't dislike them. I feel like playing Bastille Day right now (his vocals are quite wobbly on that one -- guess I like my vocals like I like my panna cottas).
As for Kate Bush, love her, but she is quirky -- especially with her early stuff. Her high, child-like vocals, such as her early Wuthering Heights, mixed with her changes to a deeper register in particular are different (as well as some effects she employs), and her dramatic vocals may seem eccentric at times. I prefer the word unique for her, and that makes her special.

Sincerely love most of these vocalists, though they all certainly take time to learn to appreciate. Went with Peter Hammill.
I do find Surkamp the hardest going of this lot (if you don't like Geddy, you're really going to have trouble here . . .).
Czeslaw Niemen doesn't seem strange to me, and I didn't know that was a controversial voice.
I guess you could add Christian Vander (and all of the Magma singers)--note: I LOVE Magma, but they are a good example of a band some just can't get into at all because of the vocals. János Kóbor from Omega was also a tough sale for me for a while.
Some definitely think Kate Bush, Bjork and Mike Patton have weird voices too.

I was 13 when my mate bought 'Desperate Straights' - at that age, Dagmar's voice seemed to come from another dimension. Still wonderful - I was lucky enough to see her perform News From Babel songs at the Lindsay Cooper tribute concerts in 2014.

I rather hate Gabriel's vocals (well, not really hate anymore, but still I'm not so fond of them), nor do I particularly like Fish's vocals (though I do love the music of Genesis and Marillion with them on board), but I do love Peter Hamill with VDGG (well, perhaps not always, but when he's great, he's another thing).
