There is no such thing as absolutes, this is all according to taste.

Symphony X :
Favorite : V- The New Mythology Suite
Least favorite : Twilight in Olympus. Something about that album just makes it my least favorite, though I have yet to put my finger on what it is exactly.

Okay. For me Queensr˙che are one of the biggest dissapointments for me because they were so good from 1983-1990 and just tanked after that by releasing spam after spam.
Ergo to say... Operation Mindcrime to everything and anything after 1991's Promise Land. f**king horrible!! Other dissapointments. IQ-- THE WAKE; then ARE YOU SITTING COMFORTABLY and NOMZAMO. Wow. That was a let down. GENESIS-- TRICK OF THE TAIL to CALLING ALL STATIONS (I am still pissed at Genesis for leaving their career on this album. sh*tty!!! |

The best/worst is obviously intended as favourite/least favourite.

Opeth - Heritage - Still Life :( :( :( But if you switch them then I would totally agree.

^^^ I definitely did switch them. Still Life is in my top 5 albums ever. That's a lot of Rush, Yes, Genesis, and King Crimson it's beating out. Heritage was pretty emotionally flat to me. Don't know if it's their "worst" since I haven't heard every album they've released, but it is my least favorite of the ones I've heard so far.

I said in OP - "best and the one you liked least" - no absolutes, all opinions and all valid. |

I know and agree. Our perception of music leads only to subjective reactions in my opinion (i.e. music is subjective). When I type 'the best' I really mean 'my favorite'. I do not separate these two statements. You and anyone else are welcome to do so, but for me they are one and the same, at least when we're talking about music.

You don't have to like lizard, all I ask is that you recognize it is the most important album in the universe, ever.

I'm 51 years old and I haven't got into King Crimson. Is that blasphemy ?
It's probably due to the the fact that none of my close friends were into them either, and therefore I never heard their stuff getting played much. I'm sure I will check out these goliath's of prog one day - I just don't have much time left after listening to newer bands like Enochian Theory, The Dear Hunter,Seconds Before Landing etc etc Edited by horza - April 24 2013 at 00:39 |

Hey man. You do what you want, but there will come a time where you will really want to explore King Crimson. It's in every hardcore proggers blood to uncover the mastery of that band. Their discography is quite extensive, but starting off with their 1969 debut IN THE COURT OF THE CRIMSON KING is an excellent start and it happens to be their very first release. Enjoy Eclectic prog at its finest....when you decide to go there. Happy progging to you. |
