Yep, you're quiet right! 
But, ... #10 is a special case. If I remember correctly you guessed that it was "Pigs on the wing" by Pink Floyd. In fact it's a snippet of "Pigs on the wing" that's part of a longer song by another band than Pink Floyd.

1. ? - ? (the band isn't Gong) Clue: Do you really need Help when guessing the Colour of this Band?
2. ? - ? (the band isn't Iron Maiden) Clue: This Swedish prog metal band (not so popular as #9) is covering a song of a very popular prog related band
3. ? - ? (it's a cover from a Talk Talk song) Clue: Cover by a prog (not so) metal (anymore) band. The female singer of this band recently decided to make something else of life (and left the band) 
4. Voivod - 21 Century Schizoid Man [cover]
5. ? - No Quarter [cover] (the band isn't Tool or the Page/Plant project) Clue: LaBrie and Graves - among others - did a fine job on this cover
6. Majesty / Dream Theater - YYZ [cover]
7. ? - ? Clue: Two virgins and one of them is squinting?
8. Magellan - Don't Kill The Whale [cover]
9. ? - ? (the band isn't Iron Maiden) Clue: Very popular prog metal band covering a very popular prog related band

No, it's not Pain of Salvation (the band I'm looking for is a bit less popular on PA).
Clue: The band name is a word that's used in Greece for a wild beast.

Nope.
The band started of as a death metal band and is now considered prog metal. But this band isn't as popular on PA as the band from #9.
