What is the meaning of the counting at the end of Even Less?
The counting is taken from a recording of a shortwave numbers station. It is understood that these stations are used by intelligence agencies to transmit coded messages to overseas operatives, although no government agency has ever acknowledged the existence of these stations or what their actual purpose might be.

^ demo version lyrics available there

and from the porcupine tree unofficial message board....

You wanna hear something hilarious??  We actually asked him about that after one of the shows.  We were like... "In Even Less, on the album you sing for even less but live you sing to even less.  We were wondering if there is something behind that."  SW looks perplexed and responds..... "I never noticed that.  That goes to show you... I don't even listen to my own records!"  And he laughs.

Hope this helps

Thanks a lot. This for/to even less thing is certainly one of them. But I think there are more changes than just the prepositions. I will try listening to the live version again and compare with the official lyrics. This should certainly be placed in a FAQ just for fun.

Quite strange those demo lyrics. I am glad he changed.

All I noticed was that live he sings "To even less" instead of "For even less". same with the version on Recordings (that's more than twice as long)

and no, I didn't know the origin of the sample (I rearely do, although I figured out the "Rambo" sample on OSI's version of New Mama - that was simple enough).

very interesting, though
Who you gonna call?
