2 stars This is simply a 12" single of two remixes of the Tortoise track "In Sarah, Mencken, Christ and Beethoven There Were Women and Men" from their album TNT. The remixes are done by Derrick Carter who is a house producer and DJ in Chicago, Illinois. The first track runs over 9 minutes and is called the Crazy Dub while the 2nd side is a little over 5 minutes and is an outtake. I have to say that the outtake is actually the most interesting of the two in that it retains a little more of the original track, but in both cases, the track is stripped down quite a bit and it is all very repetitive. I would, as a Tortoise fan and a lover of progressive music, steer away from this one unless you like techno and house music. Not much to get excited over here, but the production is good so I wouldn't necessarily call it poor. Two stars.
