| Mmmm... I don't know, perhaps Roxette or ABBA? Nah (though I do actually enjoy some of their music, but there are so many more brilliant things around). There's Anglagard (mainly for Hybris, though I still got to know better some other of their stuff), there's Pain of Salvation, Therion. Of course I also like Opeth. However, it seems I really have to get to know Anekdoten. I have been wanting to get Landberk's first album (the swedish version), but I just haven't been able to find it. |

And if you haven't heard them give Kaukasus a try. They sound a lot like Landberk. Mattias Olsson formerly of Anglagard plays drums. One of my favourite countries, when it comes to experimental music.
Let's see, how about some Scandinavian Krautrock like behaviour with: Älgarnas Trädgård Archimedes Badkar International Harvester Kebnekaise Arbete & Frihet Fläsket Brinner Then there are the fusion qualities of Kultivator, Lotus, Kornet, Ablution, Nya Ljudbolaget and Solar Plexus. New faves include My Brother the Wind, Dungen (!!!!!!!!!), Goat and The Spacious Mind. Let's not forget the Swedish equivalent of Vannier, Björn J:Sohn Lindh. One of my alltime faves. Från Storstad til Grodspad is a monster of an album! And of course the wonderful mad hatters from Samla Mammas Manna (Zamla Mammaz Manna, Von Zamla) So many more that I'm forgetting right now. ------------- “The Guide says there is an art to flying or rather a knack. Like them all and love first and fifth band
... so are his two following albums Ramadan & Cous Cous - both Kultivator and Nya Ljudbolaget's one off are out of this world fantastic. Another one is Kvartetten Som Sprangde's Kattvals. As you too like Dungen you should check out Pugh's two first: Ja, dä ä dä from 1969 and Pughish from the following year (he kind of lost his wildly progressive jazz/psych-edge shortly after) as they have lots incommon. Pugh is a name I've heard of before but never checked out, thanks. I do own Kattvals and while I dig it for a little afternoon coffee delight, it never really blew my socks off. Very nice organs though. Oh and I almost forgot one of the most bizarre Swedish records in my collection:  Joakim Skogsberg - Jola Rota. Something like a Swedish take on Kluster recorded in a dark and damp forest.

I like Trettioåriga Kriget, but they've never really put their hands down my trousers, if you know what I mean. Great, heck fantastic music to throw on the stereo, if you're entertaining your old high school buddies and mostly focused on drinking beers and shooting pool. I may have to revisit Krigssång though. No I don't please tell me Krigssang is much more relaxed, less heavy than that nuclear debut but for me just as enjoyable. My version includes a track called Murar which is maybe TK's best moment, I'm not sure all versions including the original album has that track and it's really a shame, though I may be confusing it with another track

You see I don't remember that at all. At least not them being less heavy. The Trettioåriga Kriget lyrics are mostly in Swedish and are very nice! Their lyricist Olle Thörnvall was originally a guitarist who suffered an accident just as the band was gaining momentum in the early 1970s. Beardfish, hands down. (This seems to be a popular opinion, but I can understand why!) Mammoth was the first album that really got me got me into progressive metal or at least slightly heavier/more metal influenced prog. Before that, I never liked metal and the "heaviest" stuff I listened to was probably hard rock bands like AC/DC and Deep Purple (not to say that hard rock and prog metal are heavy in the same way, but you get what I mean). I also really love their earlier stuff and have been listening the hell out of Sleeping in Traffic parts 1 and 2 this autumn. (Other Swedish bands I like include for example Änglagård and Kaipa, and I really really enjoyed Opeth's newest album!) That said, a LOT of great prog bands come from Sweden and I'm not familiar with nearly as many of them as I should be! I must definitely acquaint myself with some of the bands mentioned in this thread.

I have it and enjoy it. I bought the Blu-Ray digipack edition. If you liked Heritage, I think this one is better although similar in style. If you long for the death metal growls and disliked Heritage, pass on this one.

| I liked Pale Comunion very much. I did like Heritage, but I like Pale Comunion better, it's kind of more focused. However, I do think that some people who might have been disapointed with Heritage might find this new one more enjoyable (specially for anyone who might have liked the idea of Heritage but found the end result like a wasted oportunity). |

Morte Macabre is not what you'd think. It's folks from Anekdoten and Dungen joining forces, playing old horror movie scores with a bootful of mellotron. Very very beautiful album. It's called Symphonic Holocaust. the aaah aaah's harmonies at the beginning uhm bah fooled me a bit, but I am not one to stop listening especially when a song is suggested, dang wow when the drums kicked in oh ja yes!!!!! Kultivator has amazing moments! My vote goes to BRIGHTEYE BRISON BB = Disneyworld's prog.
