Hey prog fans I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right place so
please forgive if I'm not. I recently bought the best documentary
I've ever seen about the history of the MOOG and felt that it was my
mission to spread the word about this great DVD! I'm not working
for plexifilm or anything but I think anyone interested should check
out this great intimate documentary with the creator of the MOOG, Bob
Moog. Before Emerson or Wakeman ever used it, there was a four
piece moog ensemble and many other instances of it in pop culture such
as in a beer commercial where a pioneer of the instrument was playing
and after he rocked out on it he poured himself a beer while playing

And now a hilarious conversation between Rick Wakeman, Bernie Worrell, and the creator of the MOOG. (talkin bout the moog) WAKEMAN: there's not one nob or switch on there that you don't use bernie worell: yeah it's not just taking up space, it does something, it has a function WAKEMAN: everything, and i mean how many things do we make today that probably you don't use 90% of what's on em. I mean it's a bit like your wife isn't it really, you only use 10% of the other one. The 10% you need and the other 90% is really superfluous to needs. That's probably why i've been married so many times bernie worell: i play the moog sexually. it's like a female to me, some knobs have different screams, different ooohs and different arrrrrs. And touching it and playing it, and thank you very much (to Mr. Moog) WAKEMAN: you know I used to think like that sexually, but unfortunately I find that my solos are very short. I have to stop thinking like that. hilarious! I thought he wouldn't have a keen sense of humor seeing as he wears those majestic capes somewhat seriously but apparently he does! just thought I'd share this with you all, peace |

Heard mixed reviews about this. Is their much footage of 'hands on' playing from Wakeman, Emerson and co.. on the DVD? ------------- Proud to be an un-banned member since 2005 |

| Not quite sure what you mean by 'hands on' but I assume you mean if in the interview with Moog, did Wakeman or Emerson jump on a MOOG and start playing or improvising something. Wakeman didn't actually play in it but there were clips of him playing, but his interview is quite long. Emerson on the other hand was shown playing on an old style full MOOG for a few minutes after being introduced by Bob Moog himself. |

just to remind you: rick wakeman is one of the most
entertaining chaps in the music scene, period. give him a mike and a chair to stand on top of and you'll have people rolling on the floor laughing. seriously, watch the "yesspeak" documentary, he cannot keep serious most of the time. |

I like the story about the time Rick's roadie brought him a curry in the middle of a gig. Jon Anderson wasn't too impressed when Rick offered him a poppadom. He's good on Countdown as well, but he does look really bored in the Songs from Tsongas DVD. PS - there's an interview with Robert Moog in the new ELP DVD. All these years I've been saying Moog when it's actually pronounced Moge! |

Anybody seen the DVD "Rick Wakeman: The Legend"? It's a concert video of his one-man show, where he tells funny stories in between songs. I find the one about the time he was drunk on stage especially amusing! -------------
