Monty, Van Halen, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull (the last two being actual full names of people, more or less) have always been mistaken for individuals.   I remember once asking my high school science teacher what he though of Led Zeppelin; "He gives me a headache" was the response.   'Nuff said.

I did originally, but I was pretty young when I first saw the Holy Grail.

Since I first heard of Monty Python's Flying Circus, I first thought they were a crew.

A crew doing circus performing in the air, of course. Wacko

I didn't think it was a person or a group when I first heard the name. I just thought "Monty" was some adjective I wasn't hip to.

I thought he was a snake.

Just for a moment though. The first time I ever saw/heard of them I turned on our local PBS station and they were showing the episode of Flying Circus with the Charwoman animation. Couldn't believe what I was seeing.

I will say when I was a young child I thought Pink Floyd was one guy.

I think I remember thinking Monty Python was a person, long before I ever saw them on TV or in the movies.  It was just another name I occasionally heard and didn't know anything about.  By the time I first saw them (it was the "dead parrot" skit from the movie "And Now For Something Completely Different", while at my friend's house), I knew it was a group name.

Because of one of their sketches, I first thought that the Monty Python were the Scottish National Tennis Team (and that they were a terrible team!)
