Hi Everyone, On my group's second album we have two tracks that will feature spoken word sections in different languages. I am posting this to see if any PA members outside of America would like to record two short audio clips to be featured on the album. So far, we have Mandarin and Cantonese Chinese, Japanese, Norwegian, and Lingala. So if you speak another language NATIVELY, and would like to contribute, we would be forever thankful and in your debt. I personally would also be willing to return the favor in the form of guitar, bass, or vocal recording for a short project of yours. Any language will do, and I know I've seen some users on here from various countries in Europe, Asia, and South America. The recordings would only take a few minutes to make. Russian and Danish. And Synnejysk. All indistinguishable from native speakers (born in Russia, living in Denmark); same goes for English! ------------- A negative number was raised to a power that is not an integer. |

So here are the details, everyone: Essentially, I need two clips. Both will be very short, despite the length of this description. In the first audio clip, I just need you to say what you think language is. So, one might say "language is a collection of symbols and meanings" or "a bunch of sounds" or "innately human" or whatever YOU think. It can be intellectual or just off-the-cuff. Please say it in the format "Language is...." In the second audio clip, I need people to say, in a short sentence, how globalization has affected (good or bad) the place where they live. One example from my Cantonese speaking participant is "Globalization makes it easier to consume some cultures, but at the same time it makes it possible to wipe out some others.." and our Norwegian participant said " In Norway, as in most other countries, this has caused language barriers and national barriers to be erased, and the world has in general become much smaller." If at all possible, use your local dialect rather than standard speech. If your native dialect happens to be the one the standardized form is based on (like Tokyo Japanese, Beijing Chinese, International French, etc..) that's totally cool, and please go with that. If possible, I'd like people to write out their sentence in their native language with an English translation, and send the text to me. I will be including them in the album booklet. Please also let me know if you'd like your name in the booklet, as well (we're planning on including everyone who helped out, unless they say they want to remain anonymous). And that's it! If I can do anything to return the favor, please let me know! I am quite proficient at guitar and bass, and do some vocals depending on the context. I would be happy to do a recording for you. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Hey Guys! For format, anything will work, but I'd prefer an uncompressed format (e.g. .aiff or .wav.) Oh, as far as "circumstances" go, and I assume you mean the environment or quality issues, as long as there isn't any background noise I am sure I can tweak the sound to what I want. So, you don't need to be in a studio to get a great take.
