as if each genre was part of a three course meal. For example...
So I sit down at my table, and the waitress asks for my appetizer and drink orders. I decide to order Psychedelic Rock nuggets with Pop Rock dipping sauce, and a small glass of Hardcore Punk for my drink. When I get the drink I use it to help swallow my pills, one is classical, one is hip hop. After I've finished that, my waitress comes over so I can order my main course. I look at the soup section and pick out chunks of Progressive Rock in an Indie Rock broth, as well as a side of Jazz. Thirty minutes later, I've finished that and now resort to talking with my annoying family of clones. Finally our waitress comes over to get my dessert. I get a nice slice of Roots Reggae. And that's it.

^ Whoa, I'm watching my weight......
......just some light Canterbury hors d'oeuvres and RPI anti-pasto, followed by a main course of Krautrock steak drizzled in Psychedelic mushroom sauce, with an Eclectic side-salad, and for dessert, Fusion pie with double helpings of Zeuhl. Washing all these gourmet delights down with an R.I.O. soda.

Anyone who prefaces a thought with 'fun idea' is deserving of unremitting scorn and exile to the outer reaches of interactive team activity. You're better than this, don't make me wish that you meet a deserved untimely end.

To completely write, and listen to music devoid of any blues influence.Yes, came close. Styles like bending,or call and answer, using more keyboard than guitar, and tons of bass sort of very Bach like.My problem is to stay true to Rock and roll but come up with a whole new concept or approach to rock. I am finding next to impossible to eliminate any Blues influence because all pop music comes from or has roots in the Blues. Any suggestions? Once again, why am I doing this ? Just want to see what I can come up with breaking with tradition.

I'm very inconsistent with my listening, so if I likened it to a diet, I would surely have some vitamin deficiency one month and some mineral deficiency the next. This summer I've been listening mostly to classical music. Since I never really get into anything the first time I hear it (especially with classical which to me is sort of a new language), I will listen to one or a few classical works repeated while I study. Then when I come back to it/ them to listen more intently, I'm more readily able to absorb it. It's a pretty good strategy, I think, with any kind of music that's challenging for me. Certain prog artists satisfy classical moods sometimes, like Genesis or Oldfield.
It is totally necessary, however, having a place to myself for another couple weeks, that I blast some electronic, some really good recent no wave stuff, Zappa, Henry Cow, Stravinsky or something else I can let go with and maybe blow off some steam.
