Surprised to see no mention of this yet. Swans new album, set for release in ten days. I've listened to two tracks on YouTube (see below) and it looks to be a good one! Another two hour monster, but sounds to be more accessible and diverse than The Seer. And I mean that only in the best way. Can't say if it's "prog" or not, but it sounds darn good to me!

I've been waiting for a very long time, love the songs. I'm not sure if these songs show a more accessible side though?
I mean half of The Seer was pretty damn accessible (imo) at least.

I wanted to do this yesterday but I forgot. I love Swans (just look at my profile picture :D ) and I pre-ordered an album and Young God Records declare they gonna send it in Monday so I hope I'll get it till the end of the following week. Those two tracks are cool but I suspect the best piece will be Bring The Sun, even better than The Seer. I think we should add this album to Swans' discography on ProgArchives, I am a little bit surprised I hasn't been done so far because the information about the new release is for about 3 months.

I'd say The Seer and Soundtracks of the Blind. Both are long but they're great. After that White Light From the Mouth of Infinity and The Great Annihilator.

If you like post-punk, can't go wrong with The Great Annihilator. Otherwise, the Seer is brilliant of course.

Hmmm... I started with the title track of The Seer and I took some time to got attuned to Swans but since then I lone them and IMO it is the best band I know that is still playing and recording cool experimental music. I ordered the album in the first day of preorder and although I paid almost two times more than I could do it now, I don't regret because I believe thier new piece of work is worth paying (and it will be signed by Gira, yeah :D ). This year I was waiting for Phosphorescent Dreams by UZ and the album is great but the best one this year is coming in next 10 days ;)

I'm eagerly awaiting the new album. I also hope the recent live album gets a general release like the prior one did.

Been looking for "The Seer" (and "Soundtracks For The Blind") in record shops for quite a while now, but still haven't found them - heard them on YouTube and loved them. I've been a bit put off by their new release (in a week's time) because the album cover isn't extremely attractive, which I know isn't great to say, but I couldn't look at it for 2 hours and 32 seconds! Any recommendations from anyone about other Swans albums to these 2, considering I prefer "The Seer" by quite a way?

i love the Swans live albums, and heartily recommend We Rose From Your Bed with the Sun in Our Head, or Swans Are Dead. I think they're generally improvements on the studio takes.

Imagine how surprised I was when I found deluxe edition of The Seer in a shop Media Markt where it is usually difficult to get less popular music. And they still have My Father Will... so maybe I'll buy it.
And if you are interested - Swans are going to re-release their past albums, beginning with Filth . They will start it soon after To Be Kind. :D

Oh boy. I usually try to wait until I have the CD or LP in hand before I do my first listen. But this is oh so tempting.

I listened to Screenshot just for some relief and liked it a lot. Classic Swans with the amazing groove, rhythmic vocals from Gira just add to it all.

I also started listenning to them a month ago but still not 'illegally' in the terms of law. :D But I decided that if I preordered the album and in fact I paid two times more than I would do it now only in order to have it few days before official release and have it signed by Gira, I was allowed to try it out. But I appreciate their work and I gonna buy their previous albums if only they will be available on Young God Records store... Anyway, beautiful album, better than The Seer and I hope Swans won't stop working. But I don't think so, becuase their next albums are better and better. Best 2014 album, definitely. And my favourite track is Bring The Sun. What about you?

I plan on listening to some Swans albums and then this when it officially comes out (to my knowledge the only streams are pretty low quality?). Looks very promising considering it's already at 636 in the RYM charts and it hasn't come out yet

Hm... stream is much better than 96 kbps, believe me. If you want you can check this one and after week or two you will enjoy best quality from flac ;) This stream will work only a week. I think and it is worth to try.

Just preordered my copy. It comes with a free download of the album, so if the CD doesn't arrive on the release date, I can still have it digitally.

Fantastic HolyMoly! I preordered my album at the first day and two days ago I got a message from YGR that they had sent me an album. Now it is on Jamaica and I'm in Poland... so I'll get it no sooner than on 12th, that is one day before street date. Nice preorder. They should give a super bonus, e.g. My Father... or sth like that to compensate the time I have been waiting for it. Anyway, I'm happy I'll have my own deluxe edition (2CD + DVD) of album and it will be cool if Swans visit my country this year, I've never been on their concerts but I heard they are incredible. I cant wait for their old albums that are going to be rereleased. I'd be nice to have Public Castration... on a CD

Oh, and if you wanna more interviews that are interesting (how interview with Gira can't be intersting?!) I can recommend these:
What's more, Swans has their own Youtube's canal and they posted their last two albums (full version).
