I saw Deep Purple just a month ago in Israel and I can say it was just ok nothing more. Although I loved their recent album, those songs left me a little cold in concert. There were just a few moments here and there that reminded me of the old Purple. |
I quit longing for the old Deep Purple long ago. I just go for the ride with any Deep Purple line-up. They`ve had as many line-ups as Yes. Still sounds like DP to me. |
I might be able to make the show in Saratoga, CA even though it is in the middle of the week. With Blackers long gone and Jon Lord passed on, there is no way they can sound like they did 40 years ago. Heck, even if they were still in the band there would be no way they could sound the way they used to. Fortunately, Morse and Airey are both great at what they do. This is DP for the new millennium and yes, they still sound great. ------------- The world of sound is certainly capable of infinite variety and, were our sense developed, of infinite extensions. -- George Santayana, "The Sense of Beauty" |
Well I didn't expect them to sound like the old DP, but I did expect them to have some good energies like in the past, unfortunately they didn't, the songs were pretty flat and the performance lacked enthusiasm |
Steve Morse is no slouch on guitar as being in dixie dregs , kansas, steve morse band , as well as purple he brings skills to all the aformentioned. Improvisation is what music is all about. If you want perfect sounding music stay home and listen to cd s. there is nothing like a live band to get my foot stomping ands in the air! |
