PFM.....I have just started listening to Italian prog and they were the first band from that genre that I really liked.I like Banco too.

I haven't heard too many of these bands, but Banco del Mutuo Soccorso are my faves so far.

Many essential italian prog bands are missing : le orme, saint-just, celeste, metamorfosi, pierrot lunaire.

Saint-just is a folk italian band I discovered recently and it blew me away. I will refer to their first album, as it's the only one I own. It is indeed far much different from the other italian bands (apart from bands such as celeste or il paese dei balocchi)that are nothing more than ELP meets VDGG clones and tend to sound all alike.

With Saint-Just, I am bamboozled by the impressive female vocals (on par with Kate Bush and the girl who sings in the RIO-oriented band Hardscore). The music is mainly acoustic and lets the vocals shine all along the album. One of the songs is sung in french, BTW.

Yes, fantastic group, look also for Jenny Sorrenti (the female singer) solo works...

The 2nd album "La Casa del Lago" is in my opinion even a little better. It might not be as unique as the 1st one, which is of course great as well, but I still prefer it.
