| I'm just wondering why there is no option to ignore certain members on here. I can understand not being able to ignore moderators but for regular members who become annoying(including me)I would like to know why there is no ignore feature. Thanks. |

An ignore feature exists for PMs (ironically you need to add that person to your buddy-list to be able to block their PMs) but it would be silly hiding posts in threads by specific people since those posts could be quoted by someone else and then you could see them again. Personally I find people who start a conversation then stop listening when it doesn't go their way are incredibly rude and ignorant, in my mind the most insulting thing anyone can put in reply to a post is "tl;dr". If someone is being offensive towards you then report them to an Admin, if they are simply disagreeing with you and you cannot handle that then perhaps you should take a time-out. ------------- What? |

Thanks for shedding some light on that Dean. I was unaware of the fact that you had to add them to your buddy list first but then again that's only for pms. I think from now on I will just skip over the posts of certain members. I'm not interested in reporting anyone. If I did and they found out about it I'm sure they would just report me back. As for the time out thing I think that's just for children. We are all adults on here so we should all act that way(in theory at least). |

Nah, I think it is the adult thing to do, to paraphrase the old adage: post in haste regret at leisure. Taking a time-out before replying to a post that's pissed you off can often prevent the exchange from spiralling out of control. I know how difficult this is to do but if I find I'm posting-angry I'll often type out the reply and then hit the [Clear Form] button to clear the post and my mind - the catharsis is in the typing not the posting. ------------- What? |

Oh I see what you mean. Ok. Personally I find it difficult to not respond at all. I'm searching for some kind of middle ground. I've found from personal experience(both online and off)that negativity leads to more negativity. So if I'm in a bad mood I should probably not post anything. Things sometimes have a way of sneaking up on you though and threads can gradually escalate into something negative. In those cases it's usually not just one person to blame. Also, taking the high road isn't always as easy as it seems. |
