Just found out about this. Apparently his new record will be a Prog concept album titled "Ponder The Mystery".

Check out the samples. While it does sound like a parody of the genre, it's blended with pop melodies and really: this actually doesn't sound too bad LOL

It's on spotify! It sounds good so far! (I'm only on track 3) Let's bring him to progarchives.com so we can review the album! =)

Shatner's talking is amusing. I hope he is being intentionally funny here.

It is difficult to tell if Shatner is serious or not about almost anything these days. He not only seems to be a parody of himself, but he also openly embraces and promotes it. I find him more entertaining when I assume the tongue is firmly inserted in the cheek.

Not my favorite in the album, but it is a good representation of this quirky album. Song with Wakeman (Changes) is actually among my highlights. He plays very good keyboards and piano in there.

My favorite is probably the 2nd track 'Where It's Gone? I Don't Know". Shatner is funny and the music is pretty over the top there.

Overall, the novelty of Shatner wears off and the music is a little samey with rather mediocre vocals.

I get an error trying to listen to the Amazn's samples so I have listened to this youtube's song only.
Not worse than ABWH, isn't it?

Yeah you never know with William Shatner. He's become something of a parody of himself I agree. But unlike someone like Miley Cyrus I get the impression that with William it's intentional(at least to some degree).

Shatner is the coolest 80 year old. Well him and Christopher Lee who makes symphonic metal albums.

This isn't Captain Kirk's first brush with prog.  In 2004 he teamed up with Henry Rollins and recorded "I Can't Get Behind That" with Adrian Belew on guitar Thumbs Up

In the 70s, Captain Kirk sung a cover of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds

Listen to it on SPOTIFY! Its not half bad - the music is proggish, the guests sound great esp Wakeman and Hawkwind. bit of course Shat really sends it all up. as a parody it is entertaining and i would like to see it on PA as it is nevertheless a prog album - perhaps in concept section.

I started a thread on this back on September 11th.  However, there were zero replies......probably because I misspelled "Shatner" in the thread title Embarrassed  http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=95159" rel="nofollow - http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=95159

Anyway, there is more recent and better info here.  Though it hasn't been mentioned that Shatner will be touring with Circa as his backup band.  Should be interesting LOL

(here is the link for where I found out about all this:  http://www.antimusic.com/news/13/September/10William_Shatner_Plans_Tour_With_Yes_Legends_From_Circa.shtml#.Ui_HvXAbjXU" rel="nofollow - http://www.antimusic.com/news/13/September/10William_Shatner_Plans_Tour_With_Yes_Legends_From_Circa.shtml#.Ui_HvXAbjXU

Easily my favorite song is : "Where It's Gone? I Don't Know". Some of the funniest Shatnerisms, a guest singer, and pretty good dynamics. There's also a key solo that seems to be played by Wakeman.

Wakeman's outstanding 'Change' would have been up there if the grating singing was omitted. Shatner with epic drumming is funny there early on the song.

The other day was really bad
I thought I had a heart attack
Turns out I had lots to do
I forgot to breathe!
LOL
Where does time go
I finish the dishes
I go to the store
Before I know it
Time was no more!
I plan for the weekend
I drive to the sea
Lunch at the deli
No time for tea.

Oh and a lot of lyrics from the title track is gold.
