Steve Hackett will release a live DVD-CD box set of his recent Genesis Revisited II show in London on October 21.

His concert at the Hammersmith Apollo in May is to be launched in time to tie in with his upcoming UK tour dates, added due to popular demand.

The show included guest appearances by Nik Kershaw, Steve Rothery, John Wetton, Jakko Jakszyk and Amanda Lehmann.

Hackett says: “Genesis Revisited: Live At Hammersmith is a feast for all the senses. I was blown away by the fantastic response to those May gigs.

“The autumn Genesis Revisited shows will include different material to the previous shows, along with the big favourites that bring the house down – see you all soon!”

Yeah, I kind of expected this, and I guess I'll be wanting it. Great to hear some of the Classic era Genesis songs without Peter Gabriel. However, I'm still hoping he will come to Mexico as part of this tour (though I'm slowly losing hope). Well, he did come for the Baja Prog festival, but that's too far away (might just as well have gone to US).

Thanks--good to know--I saw some YouTube video and it got me worried---maybe it was the visual of him or something.

Went to see him in Bristol last night. Very good. Like the others say Nad Sylvan does a very good job on both Gabriel's and Collin's vocals. But, Hackett was superb. Never seen him before I would like to see him do his solo stuff.

Nad Sylvan didn't work for me or my guest--his voice wasn't strong when it should be and he forgot some of the lyrics--and he is a disturbing looking personLOL At my show Hackett brought out a guest singer on Moonlite Knight and another song and he was amazing---he's on the album forgot his name--he would have been a great singer for Hackett on the tour or on his solo albums. But the maestro Hackett and his band sounded amazing.

This is a bit old now (1979), and don't worry about the crap, cheesy intro to it...This is pure class symphonic prog from an era when it had almost died out completely due to the punk uprising that was in full swing at that time:

1. PLEASE DON'T TOUCH
2. RACING IN A
3. ACE OF WANDS
4. NARNIA
5. KIM (ACOUSTIC SECTION)
6. SHADOW OF THE HIEROPHANT
7. CLOCKS - THE ANGEL OF MONS

Edit: This TV performance was later released as part of the DVD 'Spectral Mornings', but was originally recorded at Radio Bremen’s studios on November 8th, 1978 for one of their “Musikladen Extra” shows, which makes it Steve Hackett’s fifth solo concert ever. It was first broadcast on May 24, 1979, and therefore it is the oldest live film material of Genesis & Co. to be officially released.  The sound goes a bit wonky for a moment in 'Clocks - The Angel Of Mons' towards the end of the clip, but it is only a brief hiccup. A separate clip of the 14-minute closing medley without this minor sound aberration can be seen at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAbjtcSwFf8" rel="nofollow - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAbjtcSwFf8 .  Smile

Steve Hackett has confirmed the DVD release of the Genesis Revisited show performed at London’s Royal Albert Hall last October.

He was joined at the historic venue by guests Ray Wilson, Roine Stolt, John Wetton and Amanda Lehmann, and his band Roger King, Gary O’Toole, Rob Townsend, Lee Pomeroy and Nad Sylvan.

Prog said of the 18-track performance: “This incarnation represents perhaps the last chance we’ll have to hear it as it should be. It’s hard to recall a performance that sounded so good at this venue.”

Hackett says: “It was a thrilling musical experience for all concerned with a fantastic light and visual show. Paul Green and his team filmed it brilliantly too. It’s a feast for eyes, ears and all the senses.”

Genesis Revisited: Live At The Royal Albert Hall will be available as a standard DVD/2CD digipak and limited-edtiion Blu-ray/2DVD/2CD art book with liner notes, photos and bonus features. It follows the launch of his Genesis Revisited: Live At Hammersmith DVD last year.

He’ll tour the UK in October with what’s planned to be the last of his retrospective treks, set to include material not previously performed or recorded in the long-running project.

What i said looks like April Fool's joke hahah  Obviously Steve Hackett knows his popularity in my country has pretty much "evaporated", and of course it must be totally different in NYC for instance. Anyway i'm in the right to dream... it would be unforgattable a show like that ones, even more if he included songs of his solo career.

I was at The Albert Hall & even though it was a stunning evening with much wetting of the pantaloon excitement moments, to my jaded ears & eyes, Ray Wilson brought very little to the party.

Anyhow - I have the Hammersmith set

...which doesn't have 'Salmacis'...

...or 'Hogweed'

Bugger.

Ironically, its a little known fact that Steve co- wrote The Brazilian with Mike for I can't Dance. Well there you go.

Wasn't it for the album "Invisible Touch"?  We Can't Dance was released some years after.

It is a little known fact for one simple reason.....it's not trueLOL

The Brazilian is a superb Banks composition from Invisible Touch.

Was this an April Fool submitted way after the official deadline?
