Hey they were all sexy and strong women but my vote goes to Tara. Linda Thorson was actually a Canadian so was Lois Maxwell who played the original Miss Moneypenny in the Bond movies. Here's my little tribute to Tara I drew one day when I was bored in the library.

You guys are getting the comics mixed up with the TV shows. it seems Mrs. Peel is in the lead.

She was suave and sophisticated. And could kick ass.

IDo you think I didn't know that. I could never really get into comics but I had a girlfriend who was a comic book junkie so if I had to take a serious dump I would take one of her X-Men conics and read it while I was sitting on the throne. What really don't get is comic books made into movies and vice versa. I am sure that there must be some comic book version of the Avengers

Not sure about UK Avengers made into comic books. But the novels and the theatre adaptations had their charm.

The Avengers movie sucked the big one. I'm talking about the one with Uma Thurman as Mrs. Peel.

A The Avengers comic strip appeared in a UK weekly kids comic called imaginatively: TV Comic (of which I was an avid reader in the mid 60s), the weekly also included comic strips of Dr Who and several of the Gerry Anderson supermarionation TV series such as Space Patrol, Supercar and Fireball XL5. In the 60s TV annuals (a yearly hardback book tie-in publication that many kids received as a christmas stocking filler gift) featured comic strip stories of their title characters - several annuals for The Avengers and The New Avengers were produced.

To think that Diana Riggs is now as old as my father's aunt... And Cathy Gale is just three years younger than my grand-mother... And Linda Thorson is just four years older than my mother...

All of a sudden, I feel old...

For some reason, I prefer to remember Emma Peel / Diana Riggs this way:

...punching vilains in her path...

Or grabbing them in judoka fashion.

Mrs. Peel is at her sexiest when she is kicking the crap out of idiots.

I am surprised Purdey has no votes. The New Avengers as pretty poor but Joanna Lumley made viewing tolerable.

I suspect some forumites to mistake the New Avengers with an older version of Absolutely Fabulous - that would explain the lack of votes for Purdey.

Never really liked Purdey.  Liked the New Avengers theme tune though.
