You may already know me. I'm the ARTIST behind the very famous ELP drawing and also ummagumma08's beloved sister!
My reasons for signing up: Well, lately Jeppe (umma...) and I have been 'stuck' on an island in the middle og nowhere, with nowhere to go but the progarchives. So with alot of coffee and a super-slow dial-up internet connection, we've been very amused by you... insane people and your humorous comments for almost a week.
But anyway, hi everyone!
And no, I don't HATE prog!

Welcome aboard!
But don't tell me to leave my sweaty socks outside the door...
(couldn't resist that little quote from "Punch and Judy" by Marillion)
Hope to see a review from you soon!

Ah yes, Doors.
I don't dislike prog like that. I actually find it pretty interesting, but I wouldn't call it my favorite kind of music. It's growing on me though

Welcome young lady, please try NOT to be too offened by some of the less than chivalrous cads blundering about. Luckily Master-Jester Gartens on a sabatical. His humor is as foul as his polyester shirt after a night of whippy-skipping at the local discotheque.
Do beware of a loquacious young college student from the Netherlands. He claims to be innocent, yet he is a purveyor of some of the most egregious lyrics known to man, er woman too.
Again, welcome

Danbo, that's the warmest welcome I've ever had! thanks!
I enjoyed the very detailed description of Mr. Garten. You guys are insane!
Ahh yeah. Good old Spanking Machine by the wonderful smart, and not to mention multi talented band Babes In Toyland. Nothing like a bunch of angry, screaming, men-hating females! Lyrics like "You f**king bitch I hope your insides rot" never fails to touch me deeply

Welcome to the machine!
For the ELP's drawing I may think that you might as well have a major crush upon Emerson since that's the one you drew the less ugly j/k
Its always great to have fresh blood among us, specially since you're a prog devoted fan... hmmm... wait, you don't hate prog but haven't get to love it either, so as Cert here, I'm also looking forward to read a review from you. (Loved the stripy socks touch you gave to the pic your bro uploaded btw)
So welcome! Hope you enjoy yourself in here!

Bloody hell!
I dunno, you turn your back for a few days, the next thing you know, there's a full blooded romance going on on the forum......
***shouts*** BELLJAR! - DON'T DO IT!! Joren is only his forum name - his real name is Obergruppenfuhrer Tik Von Tak of the dreaded Netherlands Badger Police!! If you meet, he will tie you down & demand that you divulge information as to the whereabouts of your brother (he still believes that Ummagumma08's beard is, in fact a badger spy) before discarding you in a pool of your own tears - He's not worth it!!!
Now, I on the other hand, am a perfect English gentleman with impeccable manners and a fine line in keeping the less savoury members of this forum in check, especially when it comes to our colonial friends Danbo and Dude (note, both names begin with a 'D', which also stands for Dunce, Dopey, Dreadful, and Diarrhoea of the verbal variety}.
Take no heed of these imbeciles - come to sunny England and I shall protect you from their foul intentions as we ride off into the sunset of the Great British Empire.....just don't tell my wife.

Marilyn Manson is lame and only a bad wanna-be copy of Alice Cooper! I love his (Coopers) theatrics. I didn't actually like him much before my then boyfriend took me to see him in Manchester a while ago. I was totally blown away. And the whole 'scary person' thing, is of course just an act! A part of the play. And he has written really good songs
Oh, and the thing about dead babies. That's a song about people trowing out their newborns, which is of couse something he doens't think is cool!!! He's not a monster! Pretty regular guy

I'm sure! I just re-read the lyrics. I think it's about the steriotypical image of Marilyn Manson though. I mean, Alice can't excatly know what's going on inside his head... He's seems to use other peoples opinions and point of views alot in his songs, which is confusing if you don't know the story behind the song. It's difinitely not Charles Manson though, I'm sure
How cool you downloaded it though! When you ask people to do stuff like that, they usually just say 'ok' and forget about it. Thanks! Did you like it at all? Not one of the best. I didn't really notise it untill he played it live 2 years ago. Just the way he performed the whole thing!
I rrrreally liked 'Only Women Bleed' on this tour. You should check that out too. I got all emotional hehe. I really like the lyrics. Guess I can relate to alot of the parts. Great song. And Tori Amos did a great cover of it as well hehe.

Tori Amos I don't like everything she's done, especially the newer stuff, but her cover of the Cure's Love Song is the best Cure cover I've heard. She elevates it.

The sterotypical image of MM... hm... yes, that sounds reasonable... but I don't believe he is as obsessed by death or Hitler as described in the song... and I like his paintings...
And when it comes to music, I hardly ever forget to check something out! I know what you mean... it happens to me all the time too: you're very enthusiastic about a song and you tell someone to check it out... they never really do it...
I liked it! I think both the vocals and the song sounded a little bit like Savatage (a prog metal band). It was not very similar to his older songs (like billion dollar babies or poison), more metal, but nice.
'Only Women Bleed' ? I believe I have downloaded that once a long time ago... I'll try to find it again. I don't know how it sounded anymore...

'Only Women Bleed' he did a really good version of last week. Aww damn, I wanna go again!!!
Ok, well... I came to think of this song from his Dragontown album, called It's Much Too Late. I liked the idea for the lyrics: Lennon wondering why he ended up in hell. I don't remember it too well, but I believe it was quite amusing!
Yep, most people never care, and it's hard to open them up to other kinds of music or even just other artists. I think it's a really posivite thing, and great that you care and love music enough to check other things out! So thank you sweet Joren, hehe!
So you like alot metal huh? Or is it just Manson?

No, son't get me wrong: I USED to like metal a lot. I still like certain bands, but I'm not such a big metal fan as I used to be... Saying that I like Manson, indiciates that I like Nu Metal or Industrial, which is NOT true. Apart from Marilyn Manson and Rammstein, I hate that genre... (I saw Deftones live on a festival...) I just think MM is a fascinating person and I like his paintings... his recent music is ok, nothing more, nothing less, but "Smells Like Children" is experimental (and depressing ). Metal bands I used to LOVE were all OLD metal bands, from the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal (and before, and bands from other countries from the same era), like:
Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy, AC/DC (not metal, but essential hardrock, IMO)
Black Sabbath (The first metalband, IMO)
Judas Priest
Motörhead
Iron Maiden
Saxon, Diamond Head, Raven, Accept, Dio, Samson, Tygers Of Pan Tang, (only EARLY) Metallica, Megadeth, Angel Witch
And I even listened to a LITTLE death metal and black metal, like Venom, Slayer and Mercyful Fate, but it got too loud and noisy (and stupid, that fascination for the devil of those bands ) for me...
Stuff like that... but I got bored and now I love Zappa, Beefheart, VDGG etc...

I actually listened to a bit of VDGG today, and thought it was quite good!
I love Zeppelin alot, though I'm guilty of not knowing any Zappa. I always see his stuff everywhere and I remind myself that I oughta listen to him.
Hehe Rammstein?? I had a friend who was mental about them! Do you like stuff like NIN or Tool?
Danbo, Love Song is my absolute favorite Tori song!!! Great cover! I'm SO GLAD you said that! I love that woman. I think you're right about her newer stuff. She's not really very experimental anymore and everything is more basic and very alike. The 'Boys For Pele' album was especially amazing.
Love Song means alot to me. It just reminds me of my ex boyfriend because I used to sing it to him I hope he forgot.

My wife and I play it once and awhile. I get to play those fills and the solo is easy and fun to change around. Boys For Pele is her best, IMO.

I don't know the music of Nine Inch Nails, I only heard their name (I suppose that's what you meant by saying NIN?). Tool was ok, but not very interesting. I didn't like their dark sound...

I don't know much of their music either. I liked most of the Tool I've heard, especially since they used a Bill Hicks quote in one of their songs. I haven't heard much NIN at all though (yep, Nine Inch Nails :)) hehe. Neither are among my favorites. Just thought you would probably like them, heh
