Anyone seen this? I've received this email.

Iamthemorning second album is on it's way and needs your help

Hello to all you beautiful people out there.

This is iamthemorning - you may happen to know us because you were among people who downloaded our first album from  http://iamthemorning.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=ff95c9c474bcc2c31acf04bd5&id=f54657ec61&e=7fe0287621" rel="nofollow - Bandcamp .
Just to remind you, we are a couple of classical music students from Russia who released debut album named "~" (yes, we already got that this title is a total database crusher).
Right now, this is Marjana speaking. I am a singer of this band and i am now addressing you because we really need your help.

So, what's the matter?

What's the matter is our second album, that is now in the process of it's creation. We already have all the material completed and now we need to take care about the materialistic side of the question, meaning money. We will record most or the instruments here in Russia, but for the most important part of our music - grand piano and vocals recording - we are going to London. We've been invited by the amazing professional,  http://iamthemorning.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=ff95c9c474bcc2c31acf04bd5&id=3617790d74&e=7fe0287621" rel="nofollow -

On our  http://iamthemorning.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=ff95c9c474bcc2c31acf04bd5&id=bb34084b26&e=7fe0287621" rel="nofollow - Kickstarter  you will find a list of rewards, such as limited bakers-only edition of our second album (digipak in a slipcase with some beauties inside), wooden USB-flash card (with engraving) containing our second album, wooden casket with CD, signed poster and a lot of beautiful gifts from the band - and a hard-cover book with our music sheets, lyrics, art for the album and a lot of interesting stuff.

Also, you may always visit our  http://iamthemorning.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=ff95c9c474bcc2c31acf04bd5&id=602ea4af77&e=7fe0287621" rel="nofollow - Bandcamp  - we have recently released a new pressing of the first album. You can see it closer and - who knows? - support us by purchasing a copy to yourself. Absolutely everything that we get from Bandcamp will be spent for the second album.

So please, stay tuned and follow us on  http://iamthemorning.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=ff95c9c474bcc2c31acf04bd5&id=f7f910c68e&e=7fe0287621" rel="nofollow - Facebook

I think it's great!  Good for them for using an innovative site like kickstarter to attempt to raise funds to go to London.  Hope it works for them.

Yes!  I was just about to post this, but it looks like you beat me to it!  I would encourage everyone to give this amazing young group of musicians some financial support if you could, and check out their first album, "~".  They are just a young group of struggling musicians trying to make it, and their music is incredible!  If you can, help them out on this kickstarter campaign and help keep this beautiful music alive!

Yeah, I was about to post. I'd love to get that extra-shiny book one, but I fear it'll sell out before I get enough money for it. I'll definitely get the casket.

Seeing as I already have 2 separate copies of their debut, I do seem to be spending a lot on this band.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/630534739/iamthemorning-little-help-for-russian-musicians/posts/484853" rel="nofollow - £2,400 within the first day!!!!

Update #1 · May 19, 2013 · http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/630534739/iamthemorning-little-help-for-russian-musicians/posts/484853#comments" rel="nofollow - comment

People of the Earth! You are amazing!!

When we thought of starting the campaign, we never even imagined that you, beautiful people out there, would be so supportive! We hardly believed we'd raise £2,400 in a month and therefore kept the final sum as low as possible.

However, we'd be eternally grateful if you help us to keep this campaign alive to help us avoid debts and raise the sum that will cover all the expences (that scenario is beyond my imagination, but...WHAT IF???)

Another update will come soon and i will tell you more about little beautiful things that we may add to the rewards. And so, locked in the office for 14 hours face to face with Kickstarter, i only managed to make this message for you:

OMG We love You! .

I just read something else their lead singer, Marjana, posted at http://iamthemorning.com/fullstory.html .  She is very thankful for Progarchives and mentions it in here:

Hello there,

If you are reading this then you probably saw our http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/630534739/iamthemorning-little-help-for-russian-musicians" rel="nofollow - - Facebook page. Or http://iamthemorningband.bandcamp.com/" rel="nofollow - - Gleb Kolyadin , student of St. Petersburg Conservatory, and self-taught vocalist https://www.facebook.com/marie.moleskine" rel="nofollow - - Progarchives.com . And so the giant system started to work, and now we are still unknown by anyone but the small circle of prog-rock lovers, but eternally thankful to people for sharing our album on their blogs, sites and all their support! The album is being played on various radios in something about 10 countries of the world (still, 900 likes on https://www.facebook.com/iamthemorningband" rel="nofollow - - Marcel Van Limbeek — wonderful sound engineer from the UK who has been working with Tori Amos for the past 20 years and made all her albums. He said that he really liked the first album and is interested to work with us on our second one and suggested that we go to London to record a really outstanding instrument and use the best mics for it and for vocal recording.

So what we have now is the most exciting chance in our lives, a real opportunity to create something beautiful, but no means for that =\

It will take a lot of money to record all the instruments (although we are planning to record only vocals and grand piano in London, and all the rest will be recorded in Russia), mix, master everything and then print at least 500 copies of the album.

So we decided that it is time to be brave and start the Kickstarter campaign. It took us almost two months to make this happen — because Kickstarter is closed for everyone outside the UK and USA, but Marcel happened to be so extremely kind that he registered an account for us and now we can start. This is frightening, but what if it works! No other band from Russia has done anything like that before, so this is a huge experiment.

All in all, we need approximately £6000, and this includes recordings in London, Russian recordings, session musicians fees, printing, mixing and mastering of the album. And sadly, this is the minimal sum. Kickstarter campaign is aimed to collect only £2000 (+KS commissions and taxes) because we realize that the more we ask for — the less chances we have to get anything, because Kickstarter is “all or nothing”. And more than anything else in the world we want to achieve this goal and go to London.

So we thought of rewards that we may possibly offer for ones who'd like to help us. something that we are sure will be beautiful, and we promise we'll do our best.

To help us and see the list of rewards, you may return to http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/630534739/iamthemorning-little-help-for-russian-musicians" rel="nofollow - - Bandcamp .

This, along with opening for Riverside in a few months, and also Danny from Anathema has allegedly become a fan, it appears our favourite underground band maybe on the way up.

Our wonderful friends and supporters,

We've got several news for you and you gonna like them.

First of all, i want to apologize for not making updates more often, we are back in Russia to our day-jobs and Conservatory lessons, and at the same time there are still a lot of work on the album remained and we are making a music video, all of this at the same time.

So, some nice news:

1. in October, we are going to release our first single from the upcoming album, a song called "A Simple Story". You backers from Kickstarter will definitely get it the day before the release as a sign of our appreciation.

2. along with the single, a music video will be released.

3. and something about the album (and we are extremely excited about this): we are so unbelievably lucky to have Gavin Harrison from Porcupine Tree as a guest drummer on this record. this is a great happiness and honor for us and we are happy to make this announcement finally.

So, we've spent all this time doing a lot of useful things and you won't be disappointed with the album that we are going to release thanks to all of you.

Lots of love from cold and restless Russia

Marjana

Wohw ... they have Gavin on board! ... Did I know this? ... No.

Dear Friend, worry not about the genre delineation .. generous vagueness is habitual 'round here .. e.g. PA lists - and rates very highly - So What by Miles Davis, which is as far from Progressive Rock as St. Petersburg is from Jerusalem.

Funny you should mention Änglagård in this context, because I classify them (and you all) as contemporary classical.

Sorry for this off-topic, i am just here because i've been thinking of posting this band to PA for months and still can't do that because i can't find words or don't have time. So i'll just leave it here in case anyone else likes it as i do. This is one of my favorites, though they stopped playing in 2004 and only have a couple of LPs.

I actually looked through the forum rules and found an email to submit a band, but i realized that i can't even write a brief review about them which was required at the very first question. Speaking about music in not my strongest part, sorry :(

Yeah, the submission process is rather archaic, in my opinion.  It's so much better to be able to explain the band a little bit.  You could always send a private message to a collaborator, and they could send the submission to whomever needs to see and hear it Smile.  That way, you could explain them a bit, too.

No need to be sorry. I know that it's difficult to write about music. Maybe somebody can make a review for you. Smile

I'm checking The Grand Silent System out now and think I can write a suggestion on the forum. I believe Crossover Prog is right where that band should be.

You realize the submission thread can be more than just a slew of links and a band name? You can discuss the band there to an extent.
But telling the team that they should add a band just based on your opinion isn't quite how it works.

Yeah.  I know.  It's called conversation.  It's vastly apparent that many people around here can't grasp such a concept.

Someone mentioned iamthemorning in a thread about a month ago, I'd never heard of them so I googled and found the band camp site.

Very nice music, I liked what I heard. And generally I like metal \m/

I liked it enough that I posted some on another guitar forum that I frequent, and a few people there really liked it as well. Hopefully we will get the word out. Like someone else said in a previous post ^ 'good music is good music'.

It's not actually prog, but we try to make music beautiful and not trivial. I'm not the best person to speak about it, though, so just try to listen :) female vocals, piano, strings and some rock. but just a bit.

It's Crossover Prog. It's basically classical music in the 3 to 4 minute range with vocals and some intermissions. Also of course all of the above. The emotions that comes to mind are beautiful and maybe a little sad, especially considering some of the lyrics. It's a good example of good modern music. http://www.google.se/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=9&cad=rja&ved=0CFIQFjAI&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.progarchives.com%2Fartist.asp%3Fid%3D7504&ei=L72LUvu0DuPv4gS6yYC4Bw&usg=AFQjCNGH9GDu_eibjKSFA9zdh4RMvS1DGQ&bvm=bv.56643336,d.bGE" rel="nofollow - IAMTHEMORNING

Did you hear the news? ... Their sound has changed!

Everything you wanted to know about future of iamthemorning. :)

New Iamthemorning album

"Belighted" released through Kscope this fall

After several months of silent waiting we can finally announce that the album that we've been working on since March'13 is finished and it is eventually confirmed that it will be released through UK-based progressive rock label  http://iamthemorning.us7.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=ff95c9c474bcc2c31acf04bd5&id=d4c06fe6f8&e=7fe0287621" rel="nofollow - Kscope . The date of the release is set to September 15th and the album is entitled "Belighted".
Gavin Harrison of Porcupine Tree is playing drums on this record, and it was recorded, mixed and mastered by amazing Marcel van Limbeek, Tori Amos sound engineer.

For us, it is a great relief to finally share this wonderful news with our listeners whose continuous support has led us the way to signing to one of the best prog-oriented record labels in the industry. The negotiations have taken long and were exhausting, but such an important desicion will have a great influence on what will happen to our band in future so we needed time to make everything right.

Needless to say that we are honoured to share label with an amazing musicians such as Steven Wilson and Porcupine Tree, Anathema, Katatonia, Gazpacho, Lunatic Soul, 05Ric and many many others (if curious, go  http://iamthemorning.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=ff95c9c474bcc2c31acf04bd5&id=2b9d8bcc6b&e=7fe0287621" rel="nofollow - here ). If someone told us about that a year ago, we'd never believe that this is possible. But our story happened to be more interesting than we expected.

I've said that before and i'll keep repeating that without help of our listeners this would never become possible. Our huge gratitude goes to everyone who supported us during last year Kickstarter campaign that we've started to raise some funds for the recording of "Belighted". We are sorry that we kept you waiting for such a long time, but your patience will be rewarded soon.

It's wise not to either way - stops eager beavers from giving the thing ratings before they could have possibly heard it.

^ Nope! That is to say, it shouldn't be added before the actual release date, but on this site every member can add albums, so it probably will be. The problem isn't if it's added before the official release date or not, it's when the album's rated or reviewed before the actual release date (without the reviewer stating in said review that he/she has got access to the album legally), then the site could be accused of condoning or supporting piracy.

So if the album is sent to a reviewer as a promo-copy by the label/musician and the reviewer states that in his review than it's ok? I'm just testing the water, i'd love to send the promo links to some PA writers if Kscope allows me to.
Thanks guys!
