I'm interested in early jazz. Right now, I'm listening alot to Jelly Roll Morton. As far as early jazz is concerned, Louis Armstrong pretty much dominants early jazz offerings in the music stores.

I'd like to find some Bix Beiderbecke......anybody have a favorite jazz star of this time period?

I enjoy some Art Tatum when I get to hear him (which unfortunately isn't often). Other than that I listen to swing, but mostly for the  drumming. The really early stuff doesn't connect to me, sorry.

It does sound sort of ancient doesn't it........but it is interesting to me regardless. Roots of rock and roll?

Not sure exactly what qualifies as early (I'm still exploring jazz myself) but John Coltrane is well worth a look into...
