^ That's a lot of fives. My favourites are probably Magical Mystery Tour and Abbey Road.

I love the Beatles! But, sometimes I prefer the U.S. versions on Capitol to the original U.K. versions. Also, some albums were only American releases. My faves are as follows:
1-Rubber Soul (U.S. version)
2-Revolver (Original U.K. version)
3-Beatles '65 (U.S. only release)
4-Let It Be ('Naked' version, 2003)
5-"1" (Compilation)
6-Past Masters Vol. 2 (1966-1970)
7-Live At The Hollywood Bowl
These are really the only ones I listen to. I know that I'm strange in that Sgt. Pepper, Abbey Road, and the White Album are not on my list. I loved 'em when I was very young, but found that they lost their appeal as I got older. That's not to say they're bad, just not my favorites.
One great thing is that the live album has no overdubs. Many folks don't know that bands cheat and re-do parts in the studio on live albums. The Hollywood Bowl album and David Bowie's Stage album are the only 2 I own that I know are absolutely live, no fixing up after the fact.

Don't know how you could leave out the White Album, despite it being largely the combination of three solo artists' efforts (my favourite John Lennon songs are found in the White Album). Also, I think Revolver should be higher up on your list. It would be number one on my list.

^ It's at no. 6, man. I know ... sometimes when I look for the album, I look for those specific words too. But then ... they named it after themselves.

Discounting compilations my list would look something like this
1.The Beatles
2.Revolver 3. Abbey Road
4. Sgt Pepper
5. Rubber Soul 6. A Hard Days Night
7. Help
8. Beatles For Sale
9. Let It Be
10.Yellow Submarine 11.With the Beatles 12.Please Please Me
I'm not counting MMT as it wasn't originally an album, it was 2 EPs. As an "album" it would be at 3.

It's funny how my absolute favourite Beatles tune, A Day In The Life, comes from an album that I am somewhat indifferent to I recognise Pepper's importance and the huge influence it has had(still more than ever actually), but I can't get into it as a whole...

I couldn't agree more. I loved it as a kid when it came out. But, to me, time has not been kind to Sgt. Pepper. Yet, I think the songs on 'Let It Be...Naked' sound timeless. So does the material from 1965-1966. Funny how that works, eh?

Like some kind of a 50/50 deal.

I reckon there are quite a few bands that would be glad of throwaways such as "She's Leaving Home" and "L in the S with D".

^ Nah, ... "She's Leaving Home" is one of my absolute favorites from them.

As far as Beatles compilations go, 'Hey Jude' is a real winner, great collection of tunes there.
