Interesting. Apparently some young German musicians enlisted Stephen Malkmus (formerly leader of Pavement, currently leader of the Jicks) to perform CAN's "Ege Bamyasi" album for a special festival appearance. The event was recorded and deemed fit for release in a limited edition on vinyl.
Release date is Record Store Day, April 20, 2013.
Could be interesting. Hard to imagine them (or anyone) pulling off a credible version of Can's music without their monster rhythm section, but I will be checking this out anyway because a) I love Can, and b) I'm a Malkmus fan too.

Yeah, they performed it sometime last year, so people have known about it for a while. This was first I'd heard of it though, and only because a friend of mine alerted me to it.
Sounds like a good rendition! SM can even pull of a pretty damn good Damo. I doubt it can match the original (nothing could), but it's a very nice gesture and a fine tribute in any case.
Thanks for locating and sharing these clips!

Yeah, he's got the gibberish down and everything. It's going to be interesting on how they get the percussion altogether, like you said. I'm definitely looking into this for Record Store Day.
