Camel will return to the stage when they perform classic album The Snow Goose in full at the http://www.barbican.org.uk/music/event-detail.asp?ID=14826" rel="nofollow - Barbican Arts Centre , London, on October 28.

Andrew Latimer will be joined by Colin Bass, Denis Clement, Gu LeBlanc and special guest Jan Schelhaus for the show, which marks the first time the band have played since their farewell tour.

Camel last performed their third album at the Royal Albert Hall in 1975, accompanied by the London Symphony Orchestra.

A statement explains: “The evening pays tribute to former band member Peter Bardens, who died of cancer at the same time as frontman Latimer was battling a terminal illness.

“Ten years later, Latimer has regained health and is willing to celebrate a career that spans over four decades. This two-set show will also embrace compositions recorded throughout those years in a personal covenant of appreciation for a deeply rewarding life of music.”

A report on the http://www.camelproductions.com/" rel="nofollow - band’s website previously revealed they were considering a tour in 2013, to be entitled Retirement Sucks. There’s also the possibility of a new album, which Latimer and Clement have been working on for some time.

Discussing the mainman’s health, the report explains: “He is very well and enjoys the great fortune of recovered good health. Of course, there are certain trade-offs, but they were well worth it. There really isn’t much more to say about that – it’s never wise to let any illness define a person. And so, that chapter in our lives is firmly closed. Well, for the most part.”

Always glad to hear good news about Camel.  Smile

Performing "Snow Goose" seems like a good move for them.  Performing classic albums is kind of "in" these days.

Great news!  I'm considering booking a ticket although with my unpredictable job it's always a risk. It would not be the first time that I have to miss a purchased concert ticket, but missing ticket, travel and hotel may be too much of a risk. Gonna think about it though.

Damn! I think it's sold out - I got "no tickets which match your requirements" when I tried to book.

I'll just have to wait for somewhere else; I'll drive ANYWHERE to see them do The Snow Goose. I might even have to fly - and for anything else, that would be completely unthinkable.

Well, the news is that Jan Schelhaas is no longer involved in this tour. His place will be taken by Jason Hart from Renaissance and I and THOU. The unofficial Camel - Andy Latimer facebook page ( https://www.facebook.com/camel.latimer" rel="nofollow - https://www.facebook.com/camel.latimer ) states: "While we'll surely miss Jan, this is a good news indeed because the reason for this change is that Camel is receiving increasing demand for performances in 2014..."

Guy LeBlanc and Denis Clement have somehow become transposed in this picture...but you get the gist of it...!! LOL

Saw them tonight at Harrogate; I was the first through the door! Andy was genuinely touched by the crowd's astonishing reaction; he was choking with emotion at times.

If you have tickets, take great care not to walk under a bus or anything else that might stop you seeing them.

I can and not worry, for I have seen them and there is not much more meaningful left in life.

But if you did not get tickets, the bus might be a better option than living the rest of your life knowing you did not see this band on this tour.

Seriously - do not be late; they did the entire Snow Goose (with some rearranged parts) right at the start.

Superb gig. Yeah, he seemed stunned by the audience's reaction.

Good set list, with a wide variety from throughout their career. Everyone on stage seemed to be enjoying themselves immensely as well, which was nice to see.

Not too loud either, which was nice as I forgot my earplugs. It's always nice to be able to actually hear the music and not come out unable to hear until the following day. The mix could've been better in a few places, but overall the sound was pretty good.

^ yes it was a good night, very emotional indeed. The Goose was very well presented, though some pieces of the 2nd part of the show were a bit below par - but the pieces from Harbour of Tears made my day Big smile

When it came out, the rock press killed this album, and I always thought that it was unfair, and totally unwarranted. It was a great piece, just like Jethro Tull had a couple, Yes, had a couple, and such, but some rock critics could not get over any band wanting to do a bit more than just a rock song for radio!

So, seeing this, is massive, and neat. I wish I were there, I really do!
