Hey guys am new here and I guessed that as a newbie I ought to lay down what I've got. I'd love to hear comments/suggestions on my stuff and hopefully get some sense of direction from you guys.

There's room for expanding, but it's a very good start check out the reviews of the bands and albums you know, that's the best way to search for new bands (find out which reviewer approaches your taste the best), and check out the recommended bands and albums on there. Welcome aboard, another young impressionable mind we can mould and set free to be a true progger (remember Dream theater are not prog, stay away from progressive metal, focus entirely on 70's prog, and you'll be a valluable member)

Cheers for a bit of feedback, must say I do find myself alot more drawn to the 70s stuff, seems so much more daring and expansive.

A pretty good collection there! And you'll have no problem finding new
albums to buy, since you have pretty few albums of bands like genesis,
camel, jethro tull, marillion and king crimson. If you're looking for
new bands, based on your collection, I would recommend Van Der Graaf
Generator and Gentle Giant. Don't be afraid to check out some more recent bands like The Flower Kings or Spock's Beard for example! A lot of good prog has been made in the last 15 years too! Welcome to progarchives! ------------- Currently listening to: - Andromeda - Pagan's Mind - Kamelot |

you could have evalued a glittering collection having pink floyd's whole discography and some other albums of gentle giant-octopus,acquiring the taste or king crimson-especially red!!!!!hey,but that's good,it's OK,prog-aimer!!!!!!

Get some KING CRIMSON for God's sake!!! Where on earth are you dwelling, btw? You might have a chance to collect great deal of Russian MP3 CD's for more than reasonable prices! I don't want to reveal my collection here, suffice to say I've got almost entire cataloges of some 100 bands!!! Nice collection for a start, though! ------------- Listen to Turkish psych/prog; you won't regret: Baris Manco,Erkin Koray,Cem Karaca,Mogollar,3 Hürel,Selda,Edip Akbayram,Fikret Kizilok,Ersen (and Dadaslar) (but stick with the '70's, and 'early 80's!) |

Welcome, Barbarian. Many of your titles listed aren't prog, so your collection is pretty small. But the good news - you are among friends and will certainly get great advice! http://www.half.com - www.half.com is a great place to stock up cheaply on mainstream prog titles like Yes, Genesis and ELP. Some more Gentle Giant and VdGG won't hurt. It will hurt your friends maybe, but not you. Have you considered Caravan? Some more Camel, and a touch of Anekdoten, some extra ELP (the eponymous debut!) would be nice. I think... |

Sorry to drag it up to the top but just wanted to say thanks for the suggestions. The ELP collection has been expanded to a fairly large degree, as well as a tad mor King Crimson and also a Caravan album.
