Not much to say. He'd been ill for a while. He was a great guy, I spoke to him a lot during the time I was writing the VdGG book (and after). He'll be missed by many; just a wonderful, talented guy.

My head is still reeling...................f**king pneumonia.............................R.I.P. Nic - I never knew you, but your bass-playing has influenced me over the years........................(not to mention your synth-oriented bliss-fest solo albums............Mountain Music has been very emotional to me for many years.....God rest your soul, I'm pretty upset by this sad news......).

Thank you for the groove and power of your solid bass playing. Now you rest in peace, free from this chemical world full of darkness and infested with killers and emperors.

I woke up this warm sunny Friday morning here in southern California to read my dear long time English brother/friend for many of years talented keyboardist for The Enid,Steve Hackett,John Hackett his posting sad note about this: "I
was stunned to hear the news about Nic Potter's passing - it came as a
huge shock when I found out this morning. What a tragic loss of a
wonderful and talented human being. I'm proud to have had him as a
friend and colleague. He will be greatly missed"- Nick Magnus
My old Swiss progressive rock band I played guitar, and toured with called Flame Dream were often compared, influenced by Van Der Graff Generator;(Our singer.Peter Wolf also fluently played sax in the band.).

Very sad. I know his playing more from Steve Swindell's Fresh Blood album than from VDDG but he was a legendary name in my 20s and I'm glad I got to hear him play.
