| Here's a thread I haven't seen yet, (I'm sure I'll be told otherwise). What album/albums did you buy just because of the cover art, not knowing how the band sounded or sounds like? Mine was Hawkwind's "Space Ritual". I was blown away by the cover that opened up to practically poster-size and the music. Unfortunately, I sold all my vinyl years back....SOB SOB!!!! |

hmmm I already had TAAB on CD and vinyl, but I got the remaster just for the expanded newspaper.  -------------

I bought Scenes From A Memory when I was much younger because I liked the artwork Hahaha, and proved to be a great investment

Dredg (cant remember the name of the album, it was green and had a cool symbol) didnt really like it. Ozric Tentacles - Strangitude. Great album |

Saga - Images At Twilight.....probably still the most bizarre cover I've ever seen. A close second would be Lark's Tongues....just mesmerized the first time I saw it. For some reason, the cover always seemed to match well with the music within. A very nice total package. |

Erpland, Strangeitude, Pungent Effulgent, Jurassic Shift, Spice Doubt
by Ozric Tentacles. Saw them all at once in a shop for used CDs. I must
admit that I had already heard a track, but right then I couldn't
remember what it sounded like, or if I liked it. Bought the lot
anyway.  Also, Les Dudek's "Ghost Town Parade", which, uh, was good for being AOR... but nothing I really like. Otherwise, I've usually heard a song or two before, or else somebody has recommended them. I was really drawn in by the debut and sole release by Art in America, which I think had a Roger Dean cover. Dave Greenslade's 'The Pentateuch of the Cosmogony'. Absolutely stunning package when initially released on vinyl with Patrick Woodrolfe (I've probably mis-spelt that, sorry). The CD issue was awful in comparison. This is 'Woyaya' by Osibisa. I had never heard of them. It was in the bargain bin. It had a Roger Dean cover so I bought it. Got it home, put it on and it turned out to be a funky African jazz exploration. Which went down just fine Apart from that I bought 'Brain Salad Surgery' for its cover artwork, and that alone. The album itself does little for me. ------------- Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy! |

I bought Bedside Manners are Extra by Greenslade
knowing little about them except that they were keyboard oriented and I liked the Roger Dean cover. It turned out to be excellent and I consequently formed a theory that Roger Dean artwork = great prog album. I bought "The Window of Life" because of the cover, well actually I liked the cover so much I listened it at the store, and was imediately captivated by the sounds.
