I recently bought the forementioned Laney bass amplifier. It was a great buy considering the other brands out there around the 200 and low 300 dollar range. It also great for small gigs.

Though I've started to hear this loud buzzing noise coming from the bass amplifier, and this happens even when I don't even have the bass plugged in, as well as when I turn all the tone nobs down. I was wondering if this is normal for bass amplifiers or is there something genuinely wrong with it?

Thanks

Could be a grounding problem.  check where it's plugged into the wall and experiment with different places or a good surge protector.

also, if there is a cord plugged into the amp with no bass plugged on the other end, and the volume is on, the cord is acting like a long antenna so it is amplifying any random RF noise in the room, usually 60 Hz buzz from the electrical lines (I assume you have 60 Hz 120V AC power in canada?)
