I ask because I heard some people arguing about this the other day.  One was saying girls are a breeze and little boys are pure Satan spawn.  The other said boys are a cakewalk and girls will put the gray hairs on your head.

Obviously this is a general question since every person is different.

What do our parents here say?

I am not a parent so I will not vote, but I am a boy and I have a sister. I have been told that boys are more difficult when they're young, but once the teenage years hit girls are much worse. This sounds about right to me.

I've heard that same thing Logan, so I guess people will have to base their vote on the overall picture, from ages 1-18.

People with young kids can still vote on their experience "to date" of course.

I'm not a parent but I don't think I'd handle raising a girl all too well. It seems from an outside view that would be the harder option.

The correct answer is "neither".

I'm saying "girls" but only because of my current situation is that my daughter is going through a defiant phase. It really depends on the child.

I only have a daughter (age 7), but she's been fairly easygoing I suppose.  Other boys her age in the neighborhood look like they're a lot harder to keep out of trouble.   But my daughter is intelligent and cunning, and by the time she's a teenager she will probably mind-game me to the brink of insanity.  We shall see.

I'll vote "boys" and hope I'm right.

This sounds about correct to me too, but I am not a parent so this is merely observation on my part.

I am not a parent and have only two male cats so I will not vote. But I also have a sister and have been told (and know as a fact obviously) that I was quite easy to raise up, I was very docile and non-rebellious. My sister was, well, a teenage girl at one point during her life, and her character was always much more difficult. Of course that doesn't mean anything.

If I had a kid, I'm not sure what I would want. Girl seem to be less idiotic but boys are, well, I can teach them from the start to like real sports like soccer TongueClown

I only have two boys, so I can't really say.  They are a handful, to put it mildly.  There's truth to Logan's maxim, but there's obviously exceptions.

Rearing kids is tough, boy or girl.

My oldest son is mildly autistic, so he has always been difficult.

But my daughter is a straight up two-year-old troll.  She says and does things just to piss off her brother.  When she has a meltdown, there's no consolation.  And she can be a nag.

Our other boy is our easiest child by far.

No vote. I have only one 17-year old daughter. She has become harder to raise since she entered her teens.

I have a 4 year old daughter and a 2 year old boy, I would definitely say my boy is easier to raise since he doesn't make a fuss about everything, he keeps himself busy and doesn't feel an urge to bug you when you read reviews on PA.

Oh...and he knows how to headbang. I'm so proud.

Boys.
They will be punks, rastas or metalheads, they will drink and binge, they will drive too fast, they pee standing up, and then they have children.

And it's their turn to suffer.

As a teacher boys are definitely most challenging

As a parent girls can be when they start becoming conscious of er... boys

So boys I chose because really they have some annoying habits and are rather loud and demanding.

Well, I have seven weeks of experience in raising a boy, and my work buddy with his eight week old daughter seems to be having pretty much the same problems as we do. So this might be a tad too small sample size to form an opinion on.

As a father of a boy and a girl, grand father of two boys and two girls and uncle to four neices, I voted girls. I still don't understand women, young or old.

I have got a nine year old daughter and a six year old son. From my personal experience raising a boy is so much easier. My daughter is giving me grey hairs, she is constantly challenging my authority, while my son is just a little easy to handle little fellow. I guess my daughter inherrited my wifes personality, while my son resembles my temprament a lot ;-)

If I was Australian, you could be my teacher but don't panic, cause I'm a teacher's pet.

Wow - when I voted I never expected girls to actually pull ahead. Wonder if it's just because there are more dads here, and we just have more difficulty relating to our daughters?

My wife would tell you that girls are harder.  She grew up with three brothers and three sisters.

Geoff, I suspect the fact we are mostly males here contributes, for sure.  The people I mentioned arguing in my set up post, it was a woman who said boys are impossible....so perhaps it is an innocent and honest difference in perspective.

Can't vote since I have no kids (and probably should be barred from ever)
but Louis CK had some sage words on the matter:

Boys f**k things up, Girls are f**ked up.

A boy will break things, cause financial damage. A girl will break your soul and cause mental anguish...as he said.
Just from life observations this seems fairly accurate LOL

I'd imagine it's just the individual kid and who you raise em.

My son was a hellion from the time he was little till he hit his early teens, then he mellowed out. My daughter was great up until she hit eleven, and now at twelve I feel she might not make it to thirteen.

So I cannot vote. They are both pains in the ass at different times.

Then the worst is yet to come. Be prepared Exclamation.

I cannot vote either. I only have a 17-year old daughter.
