We will check them.

I like what I listen, but remember, the own band members say in their bio:

Quote VIA OBSCURA was founded in 2004 in Münster as an experimental band project. With dedication to music in general, a background in rock bands with 70-s-influences, jazz, Gothic-Rock-/Doom-Bands, progressive metal, classical music and openness to other genres

In Bandcamp they are tagged as

Quote tags:  http://bandcamp.com/tag/gothic" rel="nofollow - gothic   http://bandcamp.com/tag/pop" rel="nofollow - pop   http://bandcamp.com/tag/rock" rel="nofollow - rock   http://bandcamp.com/tag/soundtrack?from=tralbum&artist=3995180911" rel="nofollow - soundtrack   http://bandcamp.com/tag/modern-krautrock?from=tralbum&artist=3995180911" rel="nofollow - modern krautrock   http://bandcamp.com/tag/m%C3%BCnster" rel="nofollow - Münster

http://viaobscura.bandcamp.com/track/traum" rel="nofollow - http://viaobscura.bandcamp.com/track/traum

In Vampire Freaks (Goth site), they are described as:

Quote VIA OBSCURA was formed in 2004 as an experimental goth band project. Via Obscura love music in general, and they have an eclectic background of jazz, gothic-rock/doom bands and classical ensembles

http://vampirefreaks.com/viaobscura" rel="nofollow - http://vampirefreaks.com/viaobscura

Despite this facts, I believe they have a slight chance in Symphonic, because the Classic Symphonic elements are strong enough, but that heavy - metal sound distracts me a bit.

Actually, in Bandcamp that whole (debut) album is tagged as symphonic too: http://viaobscura.bandcamp.com/album/traum" rel="nofollow - http://viaobscura.bandcamp.com/album/traum

Let the team vote Svetonio, I'm tempted to say yes, buut the Goth and metal elements keep me away.

Plus, they are clear, they consider themselves a Gothic Prog band like Dead Can dance or Miranda Sex Garden.

Sound like a softer Nightwish. Lots of piano and classical influences, perhaps more than After Forever or Epica.

My gut reaction without worrying about the Goth elements is to say YES to symphonic.

There are metal elements but they tend to hold back on any thrash, its more slices of distortion.

I will say YES to Symphonic as theres Symp elements throughout, also simply to get this band added. There is enough here to add to Symph without having to pass on yet another band surely.

I hear the strong symphonic elements, but I fail to hear very strong progressive elements. I would therefore say that this is more Symphonic Rock or Symphonic Metal than it is Symphonic Prog. As such, this is a borderline case.

Just receiveda  PM from Fritz (Southsideofthe Sky), he retires his objection without voting in favor, so I believe we can add the band.

Let me check with an Adm, I have the bio ready

Could had been even faster, but Fritz and myself, weren't 100% sure that the band was mainly Symphonic.

We just talked once and the objections were retired.

Really, great team work, because when the bio was ready, I just came back to the forum for the photos you posted (Unusually I had like 7 photos to chose from) and already had received Fritz's PM.

Just wrote a 5 stars review, IMO one of the best 5 albums of the past decade.
