These pairs have worked together at least in five or more ocassions. I've tried to narrow it just to one actor per director. Other choices could have also been Owen Wilson/Wes Anderson, Jason Lee/Kevin Smith or John Wayne/Howard Hawks just to name a few. |

It's a great one. And it would be one of my favorites on the list as well (I voted Bergman/Von Sydow BTW). But as far as I know they only made 4 films together: Viridiana, Tristana, The Discreet Charm Of The Bourgeioisie and That Obscure Object Of Desire. |

Lots of good choices here, but I will always be a fan of silly physical comedy, so Nielsen and Zucker from the list. You could have also added Charlie Chaplin/Charlie Chaplin to the choices.

Oh, haha, that's okay, you know quite a lot! I've decided to study cinema at U.B.A. but the C.B.C. is killing me.  By the way, I'm finishing the autobiography of Luis Buñuel, if you can get that, it's really awesome.

Don't worry. It happened the same to me in C.B.C. I had to take Algebra another time and lost half a year because of it. It's no big deal. In the end, if you're persistent, you'll finish your career. I'll try to get that autobiography. Seems pretty interesting. I'd like to know about his life, his friendship with Dali and that sort of things. Anyway, don't let this poll fool you. I do know something about films and cinema, but wikipedia, Imdb also helped a lot. It's not that I have seen every single one of the movies I posted. Far from that. Buñuel is a particular case because he's one of my favorite directors, but if you ask me about Ford, Hawks or Cukor, the truth is that I know almost nothing of them. |

is there anyone of the other who can compare with the amount of academy awards as these duo Guinness/Lean: Great Expectations, Oliver Twist, The Bridge On The River Kwai, Lawrence Of Arabia, Doctor Zhivago, not that good quality = the amount of academy awards, but still, also the class and scale is also quite astonishing...

I've noticed someone voted for the Burton/Depp duo. Personally, I've grown really tired of Burton movies several years ago. It's always more of the same with him. I know, some might tell me that it's his style, etc. I don't know. His work is so formulaic it just doesn't do anything for me anymore. Not only the visual aspect of his films, but the characters portrayed on them. It seems I've seen Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter portraying the same quirky, bizarre characters over and over again during his last 5 or 6 movies. I think he should take some time off. |

I approve this post. Seeing Burton casting Depp and Bonham-Carter for every of his last movies gives me the feeling that the retirement years would be... creepy. |

Directors seem to have more than just one favorite actor to work with. Like any occupation, the boss/foreman/supervisor/director assembles the team with the best chemistry. So lets not forget that while Jack Nance was almost exclusively directed by David Lynch, Lynch had a team that he relied on heavily that included Kyle McGlaughlin, Dean Stockwell, Brad Dourif, Laura Dern. Some other frequent collaboration teams: Terry Gilliam - Jon Price,Ian Holm,Charles McKeown,Katherine Helmond and of course the Python alum. Jean-Piere Jeunet - Dominique Pinon, Jean-Claude Dreyfuss, Ron Perlman Robert Rodriguez - Selma Hayak, Antonio Banderas, Danny Trejo Oh, my vote from the list is Campbell/Raimi.
