I was looking at some reviews for Stormwatch and a some of them - including John McFerrin, George Startostin, and Capn. Marvel - weren't fond of "Dark Ages". To be honest, the track is overlong and some of the dramatic moments sound a bit forced, at least in my opinion. However, one day, I found this version: Wow. I wish Tull stuck with that arrangement for the studio version. The intro is eerie and the lyrics about the town burning to the ground is a nice touch. ------------- He looks at this world and wants it all... so he strikes, like Thunderball! |

Thanks for posting this, it is a very cool version of this song. I'm a huge Tull fan-own most of their albums and have seen them countless times. What I've always appreciated about their live performances are Ian Anderson's rearranging of songs for the stage of which many turn out better live. This is a great example of that. Tull has always been a great live band. I also think this line up with Palmer and Evans on keys, Barry Barlow on drums, the late, great John Glascock on bass and the splendid Martin Barre on guitar was the bands best. |
