THose with atwisted sense of humor should be able to get into this thread.

What songs (prog or not) do you think William Shatner should reinterpret for posteriority, er, I mean posterity?

I submit:

Stealing People's Mail - The Dead Kennedys

Super Bad - James Brown

Harold The Barrell - Genesis

I would say that he should do any Frank Zappa song, but Shatner doing FZ might actually make the songs a little less weird.

Yeah. 'Montana' or 'The Torture Never Stops' would be interesting.

I'd like to hear him do something in Kobaian - a full length recitation of Mekanik Destruktiw Kommandoh would be awesome.

Failing that, One White Duck by Tull would work nicely, and from the non prog arena something by the Pixies, perhaps Monkey Gone To Heaven, or maybe Talking Heads - Born Under Punches would suit his unique style.

I'd like to hear him try Careful With That Axe Eugene by Pink Floyd or A Passion Play by Jethro Tull.

And if he did any Zappa song, he should do Dinah-Moe Humm.

Any song that requires a large vocal range and singing that is more than merely talking with that "rythem" he uses.

He is so hilarious when he pokes fun at himself like that. I can just see him doing Your Move from All Good People. Is anybody here old enough to remember his bit on Elton's Rocket Man at the sci-fi awards on TV in '78? A riot!

come on.  VdGG is the obvious choice.

Shatner and Hammill have very similar vocal styles in my opinion.  Shatner is just less grating, but they both don't sing.

He should do "On Reflection" by Gentle Giant. I mean, come on, 4 Shatners at once! You just can't get any better than that!

The Great Gig in the Sky would offer him unbeatable opportunities for over-emoting. Also the entire Genesis 80s output as he would vastly improve on the originals.

I like the VDGG suggestion best, though. He should do their whole songbook - a Shatner
Man-Erg could redefine our whole notion of popular music.

Yeah I also like the VDGG suggestion, I think he could pull it off really well... did we stumble on to something here?  (as for which song it would be cat's eye/yellow fever running)

How about this one?

f**k, f**k,f**k a Duck

Screw a Kangaroo

Finger Bang an Orangutan

Support your local Zoo

In that over acting voice . Think about it!
