The survivor polls would be cool if we only had one or two going at a time. As of now, I feel like it's pointless to start any other polls because they'll just get bumped back to the second page quickly by the survivor polls and would only get a few replies. Hopefully the craze will die down after the wave of "classic" bands is exhausted. ------------- I love dogs, I've always loved dogs |

I don't really get the appeal of the Survivor polls -- even if they were about my favourites, I would find it a tedious exercise. That said, I'm voting don't care as they don't really bother me. I post in Prog polls too much as it is (definitely the forum I've posted the most in), so if they help me to lose more interest in that section, then it's a good thing for me. It is not bad idea. But I think, that pseudorandom polls generator from PA database and pseudorandom generator of our voices is sufficiently effective. And sw solution of polls automatization is more inexpensive than your hw project.

But seriously - I don't care.
Polls are interesting time after time for me. But for your comments rather then for results.

The solution is simple, don't vote or comment in them. My biggest problem is that me remind me way too much of reality TV. ------------- Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

A while back, we separated the polls out of the other forums to give other threads more of a chance. Do we now need to have separate polls sections to quarantine the knock-out style multiple polls (and perhaps the more frivolous head to heads) and allow the more considered polls to develop properly?
If so, how do we differentiate clearly?

One of the answers: No, we won't, they're annoying already. I have a question myself: who is "we"? But to answer the OPQ, I don't give a s$%t about them ... but deep down I think we would be better off without them. Contests of tastes and trampling each other's feelings is a confusing business, although it's hard to let go of the fact that some people want to kill "Freewill" and "Thela Hun Ginjeet", and you want to take part in "helping out" your favorites.

There's no need to separate anything, the prog polls are fine as they are. If i made a mistake opening this poll or seemed insolent, I apologize, I just am annoyed by the abundance of survivor polls and wanted to see if there are others that feel the same.

I participated in a couple of survivor polls at the beginning but quickly tired of them. I do find myself getting annoyed by the large number of survivor polls, But, I think anyone should be able to create a poll about whatever they want to create a poll about. Perhaps we could implement a limitation on the number of polls that can be created by a single user within a day. This might help a little. ------------- Prog On! |
