1. dream theater - Images and words 2. dream theater- awake 3. Queensryche- Operation mindcrime 4. Fates Warning- parallels 5. Fates Warning- Perfect Symmetry 6. Symphony X- The Divine Wings of Tragedy 7. Crimson Glory- Crimson Glory/Transcendence (can't decide which i like better) 8. Angra- Temple of Shadows 9. Dream Theater- When Dreams and Day Unite( First Dream Theater record I heard :) still love a few songs from that album) 10. Conception- In your Multitude Theres so many more. But when I think of my top 10 currently, those come to mind. I doubt the top 5 will ever change. those have cemented themselves as personal favorites, and bench marks of genre.

Nice choices. I see we have a few mutual favorites :). never heard of Lacrimosa though, I'll have to check em out. I listened to Digital Ghosts for the 1st time today actually, Huge fan of SG btw. can't decide wheat my favorite by them is. Legacy is one only album by them that i've yet to hear. I need to give that one a liste, I've heard from a lot of people that it's a great album.

Seventh Wonder - Mercy Falls 5. Dream Theater - Images and Words 6. Fates Warning - A Pleasant Shade of Grey 7. Circus Maximus - Isolate 8. Redemption - Snofall on Judgement Day 9. That sounds phenomenal! Are they Floyd influenced? I've just been recently listening to a lot of Isis, Neurosis, Pelican, Battles, so these guys should be right up that alley. I'll check them out tonight. I'll let you know what I think once I hear some songs. -------------

Ten favorites from someone who doesn't really like the genre in question, but was once a teenage metaller. I don't mind my metal to somehow progress, challenge and stretch the limits of its genre, but prog-metal has very little or no appeal to me. Strictly from the Prog-Metal database here: Hall of the Mountain King - Savatage Streets - Savatage Perfect Element - Pain of Salvation Remedy Lane - Pain of Salvation Human Equation - Ayreon The Dream Sequencer - Ayreon Promised Land - Queensryche Operation: Mindcrime - Queensryche Second Life Syndrome - Riverside Tenth spot is difficult for me to fill at this time. I'd probably say something else by Pain of Salvation (BE), Ayreon (Into the Electric Castle), Savatage (Gutter Ballet), or Queensryche (Empire). I'm not too into progressive metal anymore.

My list wont be very diverse but I will have a go: BE-Pain of Salvation Remedy Lane-Pain of Salvation The Perfect Element Pt 1-Pain of Salvation Anno Domini High Definition-Riverside Ghost Reveries-Opeth Second Life Syndrome-Riverside Black Water Park-Opeth Metropolis Pt2-Dream Theater One Hour By The Concrete Lake-Pain of Salvation Aquarius-Haken ( I know it's labeled heavy prog but is hear it more as prog metal) I wanted to put Opeth's Heritage and Riverside's Memories In My Head on the list but neither are prog metal.

after that it gets foggy, I'd have to put Opeth's Ghost Reveries & Blackwater Park in there, Seventh Wonder's The Great Escape......I don't really think of Porcupine Tree as metal, or they'd get several on the list as well.
