I was looking through the "all time" top 100 today and saw some curious selections on there. Two "Yes and Friends" cover band type albums are listed in the top 100. When I drill into these, I see they each have 1-2 (mediocre) reviews but hundreds of 5 star ratings. Kind of strange. There is a large degree of overlap in the voters.
For all I know Adam Wakeman or someone sent everyone over from his website to go vote for these, but just seems weird.

Yeah, there is a bit of ratings manipulations going on, it's been discussed in the Reviews reporting thread if you're keen to have a read, and it will be dealt with by admin in the future.

You really shouldn't be looking at ratings much anyway.
Prog Archives ratings:
"This album has a mellotron"... 5 stars
"This album has a dissonant chord" ... 5 stars.
"This album is in the Symphonic Prog genre" ... 5 stars.
etc.

If the albums suck then it could be voter fraud
or could be a lot of people doing this >
Then again, what's the difference between Fraud and an idiotic or wrongly motivated selection?

Who cares......There isn't a single "Top....." anything that doesn't have some debate, including the PA.

Also "This album is Prog Metal" ... 5 stars.
There are rabid fanboys on this site who seem to want us all to agree with their particular tastes. We also have artists on this site, and I have always wondered to what extent they or their friends give glowing ratings and reviews to their albums no matter how good or bad they are. Hopefully, any fraud will be found and eliminated.

We have all reported some rating fraud before, and i never saw an admin saying he's going to do something about it.

^ Read back through the 'reviews reporting' thread, it's there (I'm too lazy to provide a link.)
Besides, reviews are more important than ratings in the end.

Those are all ideas, i'm not sure what was actually been done. And what about the damage that already been caused?

I have heard of a bug which doesn't allow fake ratings and accounts to be deleted, something like an "overflow error". In the meantime we could flood the inbox of this idiot with PMs, just to have a little revenge.

This is much discussed in reviews reporting thread as has been mentioned.
The manipulator picks on Yes tribute albums and Wakeman for some unearthly reason. it could be worse - he could have chosen ELP's Love Beach or Gentle Giant's Giant For A Day or some other poor excuse for an album.
It has to be said though that I believe all those ratings by said user will be gone soon - its only a matter of time.

Well, it's always a good idea to have a pop at the admins, even if it's not based on fact! Thanks for your support Sagichim, it's comments like that which make it all worthwhile.
