March 31, 2012 ... a bit cold in Kyoto, Japan yet but a live house named Rag (Kyoto) had been remarkably filled with the audience and their excitement. Oh yeah a Japanese avantgarde progressive rock trio LE SILO had made a tour in Kansai (Kyoto and Osaka, their favourites they say) for two days. And what's more, three superb bands - DJAMRA, ZONK MONK, and another promising project YUUKAIKENCHIKU (not on Progarchives yet) - had played as opening performers. What fantastic nights.
The curtain raisers were, our Japanese jazz rock pride, DJAMRA ... with their "meaningful" repertoire "Zetsuen Doon"!
Shinji and Sayaka are always the perfect pair of the horn section.
Takehiro plays on piano, sometimes calmly and sometimes dramatically.
A serious song "Dictator" followed such a mysterious one.
Shinji's loud & enthusiastic sax play is very intriguing.
Their new suite came here ... "Negative Trilogy - Own Goal / Mouke-Banashi (Fraudulent Consultation) / Fishy AKB". Funny, all the three parts were ended with the same negative piano phrase by Takehiro. (Yeah don't get deceived.)
Akihiro, behind other members, launches drumming kicks strictly ... plays a important / vital role indeed.
And one of their masterpieces "Komura Kaeri".
Masaharu the Leader plays cool bass on playing and ...
His interlude talk is always lazy ... err ... easygoing really.
"Pierrot's Foot Goes Into Convulsions" was the last explosion of them.
Sayaka, one and only female player in DJAMRA, can play powerfully on trumpet!

Following a promising project http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=58488&PID=4476574#4476574" rel="nofollow - YUUKAIKENCHIKU , here came our progressive idols LE SILO ... ouch, Yoshiharu was not found! Where ... ?
Hahhaha, Miyako seemed a bit anxious (really?).
... Ahem, collected themselves, and got started! First, loud and enthusiastic "Highball March / Numazapa 2".
Highball, highball, Soda-warieeeeeeeee ... fantastyka!
Michiaki SUGANUMA (drums, voices) ... one of the biggest drummers (methinks) and one of the most powerful drummers (really) in Japan.
Yoshiharu IZUTSU (guitar, voices) ... a cool, reliable guitar machine always during play (and fun to drink with).
Our idol Miyako KANAZAWA (keyboard, voices) ... very charming, absorbing, and her piano play is ... terrific!
Their "Fascinating Travel To Hawaii" is pleasure ... fragile dreams, passion ... and reality.
Look, her appearance looks like another passion, dream.
Yoshiharu was very cool upon playing and singing both.
The combination of excellent piano and powerful drums ... it was natural we'd been immersed.
Michiaki's rap / hiphop was another fun.
A kind bro Michiaki (see his eye), and MIyako in her own way :P
Yeah Yoshiharu's "three quarter" is a beautiful ballad featuring Miyako's gracious piano play.
Her fingers were invisible. (Wow)
"Kuneri-Goshi", "Le*xture" were funky, incredible soundquakes for us.
And this is one of my favourite pics of Miyako.
Oh ...
After the gig, we together enjoyed drinking, talking, and discussing.

By the way, upon the following night (April 1, 2012) ... Osakan night is always so funky, freaky, that we can accept all, both business and joke, both truth and falsehood (regardless of the April Fool). :P Yuppup, joking aside, the opening act were http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=6854" rel="nofollow - ZONK MONK , a twin-female-keyboard-based Neo-Prog project (and please do not forget Kegoi the "sweaty" drummer).
Surprisingly, they opened the curtain with their masterpiece "Disorder - Out Of The Cosmos", a heavy, deep battle between keyboards and drums.
Keigo "Kegoi" TAKADA, the speed drum launcher!
Shoko NAGASAKI, a keyboard princess in the green air.
Ai OHNUMA, a keyboard magician on the blue moon.
The fantastic opening blow could knock us the audience completely down!
Kegoi's drumming was a powerful killa, and the maginificent ground beneath. Zonk Monk cannot go ahead without his drumming, indeed.
And a bit self-intoxicated ... maybe. (Look, hahhahaha)
Shoko is always cool, even if their play gets the peak of passion.
Cool beauty in a fantasy.
Oh ...
Ai plays enthusiastically, just like a heroin in a tragedy ...
Cool, calm in the beginning ...
Got more enthusiastic later.
Ohhh ...
As an opening act, they had made an excellent, progressive gig. Bravo!
... Anyway as usual their MC was the most progressive, methinks.
ELEPHANT COMPLEX TALK

The second gig (in Nakatsu Vi-Code) by LE SILO had got more of "loud rock" than in Rag.
It was the same that they'd got started with "Highball March / Numazapa 2", but ... they'd got more enthusiastic and louder!
Miyako's MC between songs had got more aggressive and more funkier ... Yoshiharu's secret had finally been exposed!
Actually a gay in Osaka had fallen in love with Yoshiharu, in an Osakan public spa! Believable ... err ... unbelievable!
Michiaki's hot and cool drumming was splendid as usual ...
And as their gig went forward, Miyako had got more and more attractive.
And Yoshiharu was keepin' cool.
The last song in Osaka was, of course, "94k2 (broiled cutlet on a skewer)", one of Osakan food gems!
Many thanks Michiaki, Yoshiharu, and Miyako for your fascinating gigs in Kansai, we hope your good luck forever!

The last performers in Nakatsu Vi-Code were our Osakan heroes / heroine DJAMRA!
They played flexibly and amazingly upon their home ground Osakan Stage.
Here, "Negative Trilogy" could absorb the audience more deeply than in Kyoto ... because all of Osakan people are comedians.
Masaharu's MC was ...
Thank you for reading my "long" live report. And thanks to Le Silo, Djamra, Zonk Monk, Yuukaikenchiku, and all collaborators! ٩(̾●̮̮̃̾•̃̾)۶

Wow, what a great report Damo, thanks for sharing! Have to search the ZONK MONK album for the dearest listening sessions, and I wonder are there any records from YUUKAIKENCHIKU available?

Zonk Monk's "Disorder" is currently available in Amazon.co.jp or HMV.co.jp or so. Yuukaikenchiku have not released their official material yet (two demo CDRs only) sadly but I'll come back with their newer info (about their official album in future).
