We have just released our 2nd full length album on Progarchives.com and we'd love to have you guys review it. It's a concept album (of course this is PROGarchives after all) and it is almost 70 minutes long. Don't say I didn't warn you! Although this is probably the only place where that doesn't seem unreasonable ;) It's sort of a prog rock/grunge/metal hybrid. It's always hard to explain this part. You can listen here for yourself: http://marchingmind1.bandcamp.com/album/the-sickness-and-the-theory Yes, we are from Canada so it does once in awhile sound a bit Rush-y...we can't help that, its in our genes! If you would like to review it, we can send you a promo download link (PM me) or a CD if necessary. In fact if you are willing to sit through 2 hours of our stuff, and would like to review our self-titled first album, we can send that too (I think we only received a few ratings and one written review for the first disc). I listened to the debut album last night and again in the car this morning and itīs a great album. ^Thatīs my prefered listening method. I like to understand where an artist/act is/are coming from and where they are heading.
...oh and while Rush are certainly among the influences in your music, I actually hear a stronger relation to Voivod. First and a half impression of "the Sickness and the Theory" You've taken a bold step forward with the new album, taking on more ambitious songs and proggyness. I must say I am not too keen on the piano though (the instrument never does it for me in 'heavy rock'). I also do miss the spacey keyboards and immediacy of the debut. Well, we'll see how it turns. It's sure not an album too judge too quickly or lightly. |

I hear what youre saying. I think we are trying to incorporate everyone into the mix this time so there's more piano, more developed bass and drums etc. also the first album was mostly just written by myself (music anyway) with the exception of "mission" so that's why it's so guitar heavy. I do agree with the spacey keyboard sounds. As you probably can tell we don't really mold our sound to everyone's liking but personally I love spacey keyboards and will probably encourage more of that on our next album.

One thing I noticed is people who give lower ratings don't seem to post reviews. We'd like to know what you think of our album, whether good or bad. We listen to suggestions and always want to get better. |
