I'm just wondering about the demographics here. I was going to make this a poll only, but I left commenting open in case people want to brag.

The trick is to quit being friendly and be such an abominable troll that no self respecting
woman would want to be your friend. Often you get to play with their
goodies while they try to fix you. Never tried it myself, but it has
worked with all the abominable trolls I know.

My boy/girl/friend/husband/wife/partner/sex friend keeps me pretty busy.
Both sets of our parents had long ago divorced when we met. We're in it to win it so to speak.
So I'll brag: nearly 10 years married, nearly four years happy together before that.

Since my wife and I are separated by the geography because of the job (800 Km - No, I won't make the conversion in miles, do the maths yourselves or, better, adopt the goddamn metric system!), I'm currently dating a friend of mine where I'm living. Sometimes, I spend the week-ends out of Paris and I meet another girlfriend in the west of France.
So, I really can't say I'm single.

It would be interesting to compare these results with a different musical (since that's the only thing we all have in common here) demographic, like with a pop music forum.... Not that typical fans of pop music will waste much time in an internet forum anyway...

Single and have been for a while
A combo of me being shy/apathetic hasn't gone well I really don't care for playing games, which is a problem since a large part of success with relationships seem to be playing the game. yadda yadda etc etc basically I've eliminated myself from a large population of accessible women and the "good" ones (IMO) are of course difficult to get.
It's of course all on you, I hate being all woe is me...I fully know I'm a shy b*****d who isn't that interesting and isn't sure what I want in life so I totally understand why I'm single/always friendzoned

I married a girl at age 18 who I had originally encountered through the common interest we shared in Herman Hesse novels. She play acted the "Steppenwolf" novel and I found that to be true art. She followed underground progressive bands of the early 70's. She traveled the road with me and became the headmaster of the light crew. After 2 years of being married I discovered that she had been born into or through? ....a Satan worshippers sect. This was evident only on her mother's side of the family. She had been working roots on me for years when I traveled the road. This was brought to my attention by Christian musicians I had been working with. The roots she put in my food or the hair in my shoe caused me to walk around in a daze. One horrible incident I can never forget ...was the time she had been sliced with knifes and I rushed her to the E.R. The knife carvings were Satanic, but the doctor and the police made claim to a drug deal that went wrong. I divorced her.
In the 80's I married a girl who played Cello and electric bass. We divorced.
In the late 80's I married a girl who played Classical piano and performed in a few prog bands. We divorced in 96'.
Married again in 98'

Honestly I think the demographic of "active internet forum user" will greatly trump any effects which could be associated with being a fan of a particular genre. I would expect only minor variation (which could probably be explained by other more fundamental issues such as age and nationality) when compared to other populations of internet forums.

I've been married to the same lady for 12 years and it's a miracle. We both played in working bands and met at a New Years Eve gig. We worked together in 3 different bands after we married which I felt was a mistake as I'm too old for that sh-t. We have 3 children and work very hard at pleasing them and giving them positive direction. There is a lot of love in our family and that is one of the most rewarding experiences in life. After all I've been through...I am very lucky.

Relationships are overrated:
You have to make a commitment to not see other people.
You have to share your dessert with them.
You have to remember their birthday and buy them presents.
You have to check with them before you make other plans.
You have to hang out with their family on holidays.
You have to share a bed with them and listen to them snore all night.
You have to listen to them complain about the little things.
You have to explain why you stared and smiled at that lifeguard who wore nothing but a speedo and a whistle
And so on, and so on...

Relationships are overrated: i dont see it that way
You have to make a commitment to not see other people when you find a special person you dont care about other people [i have more that enough with my wife and my daughter
You have to share your dessert with them. no way ,i always order one for me and she order one for her
You have to remember their birthday and buy them presents. sometimes i forgot my own birthday
You have to check with them before you make other plans.depend on the plans
You have to hang out with their family on holidays. my sister in law cooks really good and my brother in law is a chef
You have to share a bed with them and listen to them snore all night. i fall on sleep way to soon
You have to listen to them complain about the little things. everybody complain everywhere
You have to explain why you stared and smiled at that lifeguard who wore nothing but a speedo and a whistle i never go to the beach anyway
And so on, and so on...

When it's right for you you'll feel good about having one. Right now, the last thing I want is a relationship. Well, a baby would be the last thing, but after that... I personally find relationships constrictive during most of my experience. I don't really see it as a bad thing to want to be single. Sure beats not being secure with your own thoughts and individual existence as to need to have another person fulfill some need you yourself cannot provide for.
I could possibly use a little sex though. If it was there. I don't care very must right now though.

I've been married for 15 years and in the same relationship since 1995. To the singles out there, and to the ones in non-serious relationships, enjoy it while you can. I kind of wish I'd stayed a bachelor longer, and tasted more fruit when I had the chance.
I'll delete this message at some time in case the wife checks up on me and takes offence, so don't quote me on that. Just venting about past life choices. Which is not to say that I don't appreciate my wife and progeny, because I do, but I do miss certain thrills and adventure of my youth.
