Superman had the best stories, I remember, though Batman came close.

Still I prefer the European school, the Bandes Dessinees, like Asterix, Lucky Luke, the Franquin school, with atomic style and all, Hans Kresse (Holland), and of course Tintin (Herge) and Donald Duck by the good artist, the late Carl Barks.

The latter being American. I know, I know... The best American comic writer ever.

And Maus by Spiegelman, and...

Sorry, we were talking comix.

Superman and Batman, and Superman is just a tiny little better.

My favorite has to be the Fantastic Four.  Dr. Doom is the greatest villian of all time. 'tis a real shame that the Fantastic Four are being defiled by that horrible movie.

don't mind. Why should I be frightened of dying?
There's no reason for it, you've gotta go sometime.
I never said I was frightened of dying.

The Sandman by Neil Gaiman is probably the best comic book ever.

I'm also a big fan of the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers (not forgetting Fat Freddy's Cat) and the extremely juvenile Brit comic Viz, which has a tradition of not being as funny as it used to be going back for over 20 years - 20 glorious years of swearing, toilets and .... eeerrrrmmmm.....

I am a comic book nut and I agreeI voted for Spiderman because I like my superheroes flawed, with real problems.Daredevil is cool too.I have always preferred Marvel over DC.The DC heroes, especially in the earlier days, were always too perfect.Batman is cool though,I always liked the fact that he has deep psychological problems and has a very unhealthy obsession concerning his parents death.Plus he has now super-powers and relies on his mind and body.

I meant he has NO super-powers

None of the above. I vote for the comics of Benoît Sokal. His hero Canardo is a private duck (yes, no typo, look at the pic below) in the vein of Humphrey Bogart. The stories are weird and sometimes very gorey, but there is a strange human touch in them nevertheless. He is a tragic hero too because he is hopelessly in love with his arch-enemy.

Canardo, by Benoit Sokal

Spider-Man!

Considering that of my 10,000 comic books at least 4000 are Spider-Man ones...

I've got a few... Nothing UBER RARE (IE. Spider-Man #1 - I'm assuming you mean the original one with the Chameleon), but I do own:

1. X-Men #25 Signed by Andy Kubert (Includes a Gambit Holographic Card on the cover)

2. X-Men 2099 #1 Signed by Andy Kubert and Ron Lim

3. Star Wars Bounty Hunter - Aurra Sing Signed by Tim Truman

4. Cable #1 Signed by Art Thibert

5. Star Wars Episode 1 - Qui-Gon Jinn Signed by Robert Teranishi and Chris Chuckry (Includes glow-in-the-dark cover)

6. Star Wars Episode 1 - Queen Amidala Signed by P. Craig Russell (Includes glow-in-the-dark cover)

7. Hulk # 1 (Rare 1999 Edition)

8. Kiss Psycho Circus # 1 Signed by Gene Simmons

9. Star Wars Episode 1 # 1 - 4 Collectors Folder. Each issue signed by Al Williamson, Rodolfo Damaggio, Henry Gilroy and Dave Nestelle. This one is really cool coz they made a mistake on the first comic. Mine is number 5151 of 7500, but on the first one they put 5150, with a 1 going through the 0. Maybe that doesn't make it more valuble or anything, but I think it's cool.

10. Venom # 1 - 3 Collectors Folder. Each Issue signed by Tom Lyle.

And the big ones: Spawn # 1 And Spider-Man # 1 Both signed by Todd McFarlane himself.  (These are most likely my most collectable ones).

And then a few other rare/special ones which aren't signed:

1. Astonishing Spider-Man # 1 (With Foil Cover)
2. Essential X-Men # 1 (With Foil Cover)
3. Wolverine Unleashed # 1 (With Foil Cover)
4. Superboy # 0 (With Foil Cover)
5. The New Titans # 100 (With Foil Cover)
6. Shadow Hawk # 2 and 3 (Both with glow-in-the-dark covers)
7. Spider-Man # 26 (With Holographic Cover)
8. The Sensational Spider-Man # 0 (With moving cover)
9. Thunder Strike # 1 (With Foil Cover)
10. Gambit # 1 (I own all five copies with different covers)
11. Spider-Man 2099 # 1 (With Foil Cover)
12. Uhh, some kinda Robin 3 comic... has a cool moving cover, but is in a sealed bag which I've never opened.
13. Marvel & DC Present The Uncanny X-Men & The New Teen Titans
14. Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D # 1 (With Foil Cover)
15. Uncanny X-Men Anniversary Issue (With Foil Cover)
16. The Mighty Thor # 1 (With Foil Cover)(German)

That's about half of my collection of Special Comics. Basically, it's a box full of signed comics, or special / rare comics... or even cool comics with shiny/moving/glow-in-the-dark etc covers. The rest aren't really as special though, those are the main ones.

Apart from that, I own about 10,000 comics, but they're all mostly bog-standard issues that I've collected over the last 13 years.

So what about you? What other ones you got?

On the list, I like Batman.  Nightcrawler is my favorite superhero, however.  Black Adam is currently my favorite 'tweener, or anti-hero, or whatever he is, and as for villains, Captain Cold seems pretty cool (lame pun intended).

Why do you start a comic poll and start off by possibly alienating every one who is going to respond by saying they "suck"?

And if Manga is so great why don't you tell us what manga you like?

I really like Spiderman,I love Marvel Comics.Daredevil comes in a close second.

I also like The Sandman,The Crow and Spawn.
