I'm not a prog fanatic YET but it's basically all I listen to now. I have nearly all of the Rush albums, several Yes, DT, KC, and several other bands here and there and im working on building a very nice collection. But what album do you feel has the best cover? I may go with Asia-Alpha |

I wouldn't realy even consider Asia a prog band, art rock maybe but nothing more. As far as greatest prog cover of all time I'd go with something like this: Marillion: a toss up between "Script", "Fugazi", and "Misplaced." Genesis: "Nursery Cryme" or maybe "Foxtrot" Yes: anything done by Roger Dean!!! "The Ladder" has a great cover!!!! Uriah Heep: not really a prog band, but still a great cover for "Demons & Wizards." Kansas: "Leftoverture" or "Point Of Know Return."
This point can be argued for weeks as everyone has a different point of view. If I came back tomorrow I might have a whole new list...that's the beauty of prog rock, it constantly changes!!!!!! |

I've always been a fan of KC's ITCOTCK because of its sheer insanity, as if the guy on the cover is running scared from the music contained within.... I enjoy many of Pink Floyd's earlier album illustrations, but I think Animals (even though it is a photograph) has the best cover, and I like the "two hands shaking with a background of four climates" that is to the side of "Welcome To The Machine Lyrics" in the WYWH CD booklet (Its also on the back.) As Silversaw said, any Roger Dean designs are great for Yes albums, but I like Relayer's album cover and the halfway mark in the CTTE CD booklet. Kansas: Leftoverture or Masque I like KC's Lyzard design. And, as Silversaw also said, my POV could change on this tomorrow (as my tastes usually do change constantly in the realm of prog rock.) |

| much as i love Roger Deans works, i have to say my all time fave is Anthony Phillips "Wise After the Event" album cover by Peter Cross. His other works for Anthony are good too, but Wise... takes the bisquit |
