For some reason i'm thinking about selling the remains of my Metal collection (been selling off my metal CD's slowly for years and trading them for rock/prog/jazz albums). Lately i've nuts about Jazz, and thinking about selling all my Megadeth, Metallica, queensryche & fates warning CD's to get money to buy Coltrane, Mingus, Brubeck etc... albums instead. And í already have money problems after buying tons of records lately...

So should i sell metal albums to get $$ to spend right away on jazz albums instead? Or should i just wait until i have more money and not lose any CD's?

1. Yes, get rid of all your metal collection. 2. Don't go nuts on buying tons of records.

I sold a couple hundred of my CDs once when I really needed the cash. I probably didn't have much choice at the time, but many times I've regretted doing it. I guess it really has to do with how badly you need the cash. If possible, hold onto your metal CDs. is my advice.

1. No and 2. yes, bonus answer: maybe.
The problem with selling off stuff is that the stuff you'd most like to part with won't usually fetch what you put into it.
Also I've been crazy all my life but I wouldn't recommend it...

Don't sell any albums, you'll surely miss them later.
But if you do, I'm getting your out-of-print Black Sabbath albums.

Pretty sure i won't, and even if i do, it won't be my out-of-print Sabbath albums It's not uncommon to see auctions with "Forbidden", "TYR" & "Headless Cross" going for over 100kr ($15 or €10) each (when they show up, which in itself is rare)

That's how i thought when i traded in a bunch of albums this spring/summer. I traded stuff like Queensryche, Kiss, AC/DC, Iron Maiden etc... for David Bowie, The Cure, Depeche Mode, John Frusciante, Stooges... (i got the very rare John Frusciante "Smiles from the Streets you hold" for only $10! Never selling that one!)

^Cool That's a disturbing album, I'd like to own it one day. Enter a Uh is pretty damn good especially.
Partly inspired by this thread I scored plastic wrapped digipak versions of Headless Cross and Tyr off an auction site, had to pay about 55€ combined.

I dropped my jaw when i saw it at the store! Yeah, it is a disturbing album, even though it's beautiful, but it also contains some really good songs (I'm Always, A Fall thru the ground) he wrote before he became the depressed almost dead junkie he was in 1997. It's actually a mixture of his teenage works (fall thru the ground), songs that didn't fit onto his first solo album (title track...) and songs recorded because he needed drug money (hence the not-do-good quality. but hey, it's frusciante, dammit!). Nice! Though i paid about 20kr for Headless Cross and 70kr for TYR, so 90kr combined (which would be about €10 or slightly more)

Will probably sell my Megadeth albums (remastered) tomorrow. Why? For one thing, i can't even rip them onto my computer because of the copy-control thing. And then there's the money issue. The good thing is that i can replace them with the original CD pressings for pretty cheap later on.

Been into Miles Davis (mostly his fusion period) for 4 years now, but since a few months back i've been crazy about jazz. It's like a newfound love for me
