Kinda...
As shown in this video, Neal will be on the next Spock's Beard album, which is being worked on as we speak. Neal is helping out with some writing, and I guess playing too. I know he wrote stuff for the last album "X", but I think he has more of a hand in the writing of the album this time around.
I don't have X or any other post-Neal album, but if he's going to be this prominent on the next one, I'll have to do some catching up, especially with the warm reception X has gotten.

I would prefer he work on new Transatlantic with Portnoy. X is a decent listen, when I first downloaded it, I gave it one listen and thought mehhh.
Just recently listened with a more open ear and it is grwoing on me.
I guess Neal cannot sit still for long.

Question then would be whether or not Portnoy joins Neal in Spock's Beard...

He stated that he is not re-joining them, but that he just worked on material for the new album. He is still remaining solo.

To get the hits of course.
Actually, Portnoy would have a better chance of joining The Flower Kings than Spock's Beard (if youve been following the TFK Appreciation Thread)
I do really like how Neal has been helping the Beard, though it's kind of weird.

Yes.....all these groups are now much more projects than actual bands...which is fine by me. I think TFK will be next......

^ No way. The Flower Kings is Stolt, Bodin, Reingold, and Froberg; not just Roine Stolt.

Thanks for posting... I was so busy around the holidays that I missed this one! A new SB album with Ted Leonard on vocals and Neal writing material? Very interested to see how this turns out. Nick is a phenomenal drummer and backup vocalist, but I was never huge on him as a front man.
On a completely different note, you gotta love how Alan plays lead guitar with his fingers but bass with a pick (apparently). Weird :)
