The Love version of Within You Without You that's posted here is magical.

The original is brilliant. Definitely gets the vote.

I like Within You, Without You, but it is obvious that my vote goes to O'Riley.

Another case where I prefer The Who. I don't see why you aren't picking them offa Abbey Road or the White Album. :P

Within You, Without You, George's best Eastern song.

Baba O'Riley's chord sequence is yucky; a listenable song only because of the Riley intro and Baba outro.

Baba O'Rily. No contest.

The Beatles tune doesn't do much for me to be honest. Pretty groundbreaking for its time though I guess.

Baba O'Riley is just about the earliest prog track I can remember making an impact on me before I had any clue about what prog was. The use of electronics combined with perhaps one the best drumming performances ever makes it very special. I love the Beatles track as well but its not really that close for me.

And one Harrison solo - Something - obliterates all those 'famous' guitar solos performed by more illustrious and equipped guitarists.  As Miles Davis put it, why play all the notes, just play the ones that are good. And no rock band lived by this credo as much as the Beatles, irrespective of whether their not being technically awesome had everything to do with it.

Call me a self opinionated old sourpuss if you like but this is tantamount to putting a wounded and bleeding Bambi in an underwater boxing ring with a shark

(Baba O'Riley of course)

Within You, Without You! So Psycheclic, Exotic and Surreal. One of my favourite Beatles tunes for sure and George's finest!
