The Phantom of the Opera
↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑

The classic silent horror film starring the “Man of a Thousand Faces” Lon Chaney returns to the big screen. A gripping tale of aspiration, obsession and devilish insanity; this gothic romance still has the power to inspire terror in audiences 85 years on.

The Parisian Opera House is a beautiful building that stages extravagant musical performances, but beneath this resplendent faηade lies an ancient torture chamber surrounded by sepulchral catacombs. And in this hellish cellar lives a disfigured and demented musician and asylum escapee, Erik. His love for Christine, a young aspiring opera starlet, drives Erik up from the depths and so unfolds a gothic adventure unmatched for nearly a century.

The Laze

Wirralien septet The Laze are developing a reputation across the UK for their spine-tingling live performances and expansive soundscapes. This Halloween they bring Picturehouse their bespoke score for the classic silent horror Phantom of the Opera (1925). Influenced by a history of horror soundtracks, from Bernard Hermann & Angelo Badalamenti to Goblin & John Carpenter, The Laze implement elements of Progressive Rock, Classical, Jazz, Doom and Electronica in their auteur musical accompaniment.

"From atmospherically eerie to brain-mashingly weird and fun to jaw-droppingly beautiful, this was a work of pure genius." Live For Films

"The band controlled the emotional message of the visual information, flowing from harrowing baroque 'n' roll to ethereal calm... The Laze are a phenomenon" Versus Magazine

“The Laze sound larger than the sky above and everything that lies under, imagine the Mahavishnu Orchestra after reading the Necronomicon.” 20 Jazz Funk Greats
