Sgt. Pepper has always been my favorite.  It's brilliant, especially from a progressive point of view.

I have to go with Rubber Soul on this one.  The Word, Girl, In My Life...these are remarkable performances.  Some days I think The Word is the best song they ever recorded, given that it sort of encapsulates everything Beatle-y.  The vocals, the bass, the beat.  Where'd they come up with this? Seriously, how did they come up with it? Yeah, Motown etc. I know.  But listen to those guitars, listen to Mc and Ringo locked in to the rhythm.  Fine song on a fine album.

No. I voted for the obvious.

But Sgt Pepper's little brother does have some wonderful songs on it. It's just overshadowed among all those giant masterpiece albums.

This is true. I really like all the albums in this list. It's not an easy choice but Sgt. Peppers is too important not to have my vote.

Although Magical Mystery Tour would have my vote if Sgt. Peppers wasn't here.

Ha, how good is a band when Sgt. Pepper's and MMT are their weak albums from this era?  Only my opinion obviously...

Thanks for the poll as it got me listening to those remasters.  She Said She Said is in a class of it's own.

The one that ends on a 1:00 minute sustained E Major Chord played on a Piano.

Rubber Soul. This was a huge leap musically and very unusual to everyone around me during that time. At first...people didn't know what to think and then in a few months it seemed everyone was loving it.

Revolver. I won't argue here, as I am arguing over on your other thread, Hallway. Evil Smile

I'll merely say that three of the most amazing Beatles' tunes can be found on Revolver: "Eleanor Rigby" (a double string quartet playing a composition influenced by Bernard Herrmann's Psycho is quite extraordinary for rock music), "Tomorrow Never Knows" (Lennon referencing the Tibetan Book of the Dead, and multiple studio innovations on this quintessential psychedelic piece are notable), and "Love You To" (the first fully Indian composition in both instrumentation and chordal structure ever produced on a pop album).

I find Revolver the most consistent of the bunch though Sgt Pepper has the best SONG - no prizes for guessing - from the whole bunch.

They're all good but only one album has 'A day in the life'

It's nice to find fellow fans of A day in the life as I'm used to people who say they like the Beatles but not really being aware of this song!

As an album, Revolver is my favorite. But Magical Mystery Tour has the best individual songs

The results of this poll - like its two campanion polls - are perfectly consistent with the albums' ratings on PA.

Could we expect otherwise?

^ It could have been a different story, due to changes in people's opinion, who actually votes, etc.

Anyway, Revolver wins.....

Sgt. Pepper. Historically speaking, I think this album is the most important on the list.

Mystery Tour!!!  That's THE album for me from the Beatles.  That, plus Rubber Soul, The Beatles, Abbey Road and Hard Day's Night ...  Oh, and Sgt. Pepper is really very good too.

All 4 albums represent their most experimental period.

The 3 periods (early, middle, late Beatles) shows how music evolved from a naive, somewhat childish approach to music (up to Rubber Soul) over an experimental, "growing up" / teenagerish, maturing period (ending with Magical Mystery Tour) to adult, modern rock.

Pepper is the pinnancle of the experimental period showing maturation on many levels (production, composition (A Day in the Life), concept (or attempt at)). And then it is representative of a cultural phenomenon that was flower power, Summer of Love.

Pepper for me. But I like the salt of the other albums.(I guess Magical Mystery Tour is the Chili in comparison - too strong for my taste and maybe they went a little over the top with Strawberry Fields Forever - from a production point of view, which wasn't realistic in the long run. Well they did abandon that approach future recordings but I appreciate the attempt.

One more vote for dr. Pepper.

Even though Abbey Road is my favorite overall Beatle album, I realised that some of my top favorite Beatle songs are on Sgt. Pepper: She's Leaving Home, For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite and A Day The Life.
